aftermarket aluminum clutch pedals & Canadian Winter
Hey guys,
Anyone have experience with aftermarket pedals? My clutch pedal's rubber insert is 90% destroyed and it is barely hanging on. I'm debating whether to get another OEM rubber one or aftermarket? The aftermarket aluminum pedals i've had before all rusted quickly with winter. The last OEM aluminum pedal I had on my mazda was good tho never showed a sign of rust. Also this question is more directly towards the MT guys since the clutch pedal is the one that gets the most abuse. Any ideas of pedals that vendors sell will rust with Canadian winter or where to get them locally? Last edited by silvermist99; 09-22-2011 at 12:08 PM.. |

Corrosion resistance of aluminum depends on the type of aluminum alloy used (e.g. AL 5XXX vs AL 2XXX). A lot of times you clean keep it corrosion-free by just periodically cleaning it with an aluminum cleaning solution.
I noticed that OEM materials tend to be better than aftermarket materials which is why they do cost more. |
