[FREE] 08/25/2013 e9x @ 1pm - Central NJ modders meetup!

Hi All,

I would like to start out by giving a special thanks (Yet Again) to High Performance Bulbs for helping put together the interior LED kit which I promise to install at this event. They were kind enough in providing some sample color bulbs for us to demo as well: http://www.highperformancebulbs.com/inledlicoki.html.

This weekend I'm REALLLY going to make this install a priority so we can start a follow-up HPB group buy going (Before it gets too cold outside for modding). Hopefully the weather forecast will be nice for Sunday (Changing it up a bit because a lot of people have commented that Sunday is better for them to come out).

I'm located across from the parking lot area of Bosco's @ the Woodbridge Mall (07095). It's easier if you come to the parking lot and gimmie a ring and you can follow me back to my condo 20 seconds away. I'm going to keep this post #1 updated with the latest info so you don't have to scroll thru the entire history to get the details of the meetup.

Location: Woodbridge Mall
Time: 1pm EDT

We will take a short break at about 3pm to make a run to Sonic for their "Happy Hour" then come back by 4pm to finish up stuff for the day:

Sonic Drive In @ 4:30pm
238 Lafayette Rd
Edison, NJ
http://www.sonicdrivein.com/

Here are some of our past events:
06/16/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=853204
06/22/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=854229
06/30/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=859372
07/07/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=860377
08/10/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=870455
08/17/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=877428
08/25/2013 - http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=878272

For this event I have the interior LED's from HPB and will install them in my car. If you guys like the way it looks, we will setup a group buy and group install for everyone interested for a near future meetup. I'm also going to try to do a group Power Steering flush, where we each bring our own one liter of Pentosin CHF 11S and we can use the turkey baster method to remove/refill the fluid.

Watch/Hang out/Help
1) imflyerthanyou
2) PichaDis11
3) chilled_fire - Showing off his new KW v1's and new lighting that was installed yesterday.
4) fc21 - Coming out to show his newly installed snails
5) EveryBodyWildOu
6)

Mod to install
A) Fazman - Interior LED lights from HPB, Power Steering fluid flush
B) Hierlevelz - JB4 G5 back end flash DME read and possibly flash DME with new code from Terry if time permits.
C) K20Soldier - Clay bar his paint and any other general maintenance.
D)
E)
F)
G)

List of things I have experience doing:
1) Installing N54 BMS DCI/N55 BMS CAI
2) Cleaning and re-oiling old Cone intakes (Would require multiple days and we can install your stock intake till you come back for the cleaned cones. Please bring your cleaning kit or plan with me so I can have on ready for you),
3) Rear fog light switch lego mod (Some don't need a lego)
4) Installing JB4
5) Installing AE's
6) Installing HID Fog lights
7) Installing new D1S headlight bulbs
8) Installing factory alarm (you will need to find someone to code it for you tho).
9) Installing tint protector/mole skin
10) Changing out the stock HVAC filter or stock airbox filter (this is easy)
11) Cup Holder Delete mod more like remove/replace

Things I plan on doing to my car in the near future:
A) Interior LED lighting (Thanks to HPB)
B) Vinyl my chrome window trim
C) Automatic transmission shifter mod (for pinched wires when switching over to sport mode, seems like a common issue that all e9x automatics have over time)
D) Vinyl my interior trim
E) TBD - Please suggest a mod that you would like to learn together and we can take on the job.

- Faz

So we need to figure things out early so we can get our Power Steering Fluid ordered and ready by Sunday, here is a link to some place that has the 1L container for $18:
http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/200...ing_fluid.html

We need "PENTOSIN CHF 11S" fluid. Now if we can get 20 people to commit to coming out, then we could get the 20L jug for $235 or ~$11/Liter, Where are you going to get a power steering flush on a BMW for $11, this is a HOT DEAL!!!

Also if Rob1024 is game, I would also like to do a future brake fluid flush meetup and/or ER Brake Line replacement.

Yea, I'm still in the process of creating all the group buy threads... I'll create something tonight for the Power Steering Fluid too. Today you missed out on the Cup Holder Delete mod

We also got to see a reallllllllllllllly clean e92, even more awesome then Dark_Knight_335's (Sorry DK, your e93 is still awesome... just this other guy was a little more awesomererer).

The vinyl trim is a little touch and go in these higher temps... I think we are going to have better luck with that mod towards the end of Sept or early Oct when it gets a little cooler weather.

Don't worry, he will be back again on Sunday to do the BMS backend flash.

Okay, I'll add your buddy as your +1, is he just hanging out or are we doing anything for his car (like rear fog light mod)?

I see, have him post on this thread that he wants to come and what he would like to get done... that way I can track it better. You should also have him PM "Bimmer335i07" who was the guy that did all that back end flashing.

Hopefully he can read and flash it for you the same day.
1) Reading DME = 70 minutes
2) Email Terry the 2MB file of the DME
3) Wait for Terry to get back to you with the back end flash file
4) Choose and install your back end flash = 30 minutes

We haven't had a completed successful effort with the Vinyl of the exterior chrome window trim yet. Also the weather temps are kinda high to do it well. An hour and a 1/2 drive each way + gas + tolls is not really worth while for the Vinyl... I'm sure you could just pay someone local to you $50 for the labor to do it and still come out ahead. Now if you were to do other installs at the same time... then the cost savings of time+gas+tolls vs local labor prices becomes more worth while.

Don't get me wrong... I would love for you to come out... I just don't want to set your expectations higher than what they should be.

I actually enjoy the drive to CNJ. I have family in Edison and do the brown people shopping () on oak tree rd once a month on Saturdays. I heard the suspension install takes about two hours, not sure if thats true or not but it would be cool to try it out if anyone else is down.

I found the following thread which shows sucking out the old fluid and adding fresh fluid several times is the best way to do this. Also we can replace the resevior and new clamps too in the future if your steering rack is still noisy (might be a future project). You will need to edit the URL with the OTHER sites domain name to get the link to work "fest": http://www.bimmer****.com/forums/showthread.php?t=619817

Awesome... Looking forward to meeting a fellow brown peep

I've never done suspension work... It might be hard to do in my condo parking lot too?

Can be done locally, know of a few people who might be able to help out/good install shop that can install, but you'll need an alignment elsewhere.
