Resonator Delete Mod

i took my 328i to Meinikee and they said they could not remove my resonator because it has 2 pipes going in and 1 pipe going out..

They also said i needed a Y pipe and there is not enough room under there to do it? is he Bullshitting me or has anyone else ran into a similar situation?

I think he is full of shit. ALOT of ppl on here have a res delete. Id deff take it to a legit muffler shop for a 2nd opinion. Are you going to run stock muffler?

It can be done, the BMW Performance exhaust doesn't have a resonator. You just need to connect the 2 pipes to 1 via a Y-pipe. Any legit exhaust shop can do it.

Pipe is pipe. Doesn't matter if it's on a Buick or a BMW. I've heard that a res delete running stock muffler u can't tell much. But be sure to do a before and after. If it sounds good I'll be doing the same

Removing the resonator was the first thing that I wanted to do but at the mufffler shop the mecanic said that it won't change the sound if you keep the OEM muffler. The OEM muffler is the main reason why the exhaust is so quiet. Replacing your muffler to any aftermarket or BMW PE is the only way to get more sound and combine that with the resonator delete will increase the sound even more.

Therefore I have scrapped the idea of the res delete until I get an exhaust. I have been looking for a 2nd hand BMW PE or Eisenman or even the RE Ikon exhaust but no luck yet.

Read a lot about the MMW CS Muffler and has great reviews but I don't want to buy it until I hear it in person.

I asked him if i could remove the muffler he said that was illegal so i'm back to square one i looked into the resonator + muffler delete but it sounded to loud...

:update:

I picked my car up and i stood there for 5 min while this guy tried to explain y he couldn't do a simple Y-pipe..anyhow shit happens for a reason who knows this guy could have *fu**ked up my car

From first hand experience on my E90 325i, I can confirm that a resonator delete does nothing with the stock muffler on. But when pairing it with an aftermarket muffler, it does change the sound a bit.

so my question would be, what is a main difference between going to BMW to get Performance Exhaust vs getting Y pipe and removing resonator on stock and putting a new muffler on it? because i think the latter will be much much cheaper.

My friend has a mcoupe and he changed his muffler and the tip for $700 (magnaflow) but if i take it to BMW they gonna charge me like $1200 i believe.

I myself would get the MMW CS muffler, he just came out with a V2 model and it sounds sick. Id keep the resonator and run that muffler and I think youll be happy.

+100 to the MMW CS. I love it. its the best bang for your buck, and you can go ahead and couple it with the res delete and do it all at once to save on costs.

any legit muffler shop can cut the res off. that place was full of morons. I would take your business elsewhere.
