Rear 335i: Thought was wider then 330i? 9.5 ET22 265/30 Requires Cutting?
Comparing 335i E90 to 330i E90.
Looks like even with rolling the fenders its just to close for comfort for me. I am currently @ 2 degrees negative camber. Has anyone else cut there rear fenders? I would be putting primer / paint on the newly exposed metal as well as smoothing it out to a nice oem finish. how are those with 330i's running 265/30's on a 9.5 ET 22 wheel and getting away with just rolling? Even if its a perfectly flat roll - there is still the gap between the outside of the fender and the inside roll. I figured since the 335i is 1" wider then the 330i in the rear the 19x9.5 ET22 would fit np with just a rolling of the fenders @ 2 degrees. EDIT: running toyo proxes Last edited by fibercus; 04-18-2007 at 11:44 PM.. |

Dude, the E92 takes LESS agressive offsets than the E90. I remember when i first found out, I thought that was soo backwords.

I have an E90 335 and I am comparing it to a 330i E90 (which I owned previously a year ago.)
Basically this same size and offset wheel on a 330i E90 with a 1" fender flare fit flush. I put it on my 335i E90 and it only required (what i originally thought) rolling. I went ahead and cut them to provide a little more room for peice of mind (3mm more) Hence I was told and discovered the 335i has a wider rear. |

The E90 335i has the same fender well width as did your E90 330i. jNT is running 265/30/19 Proxes with his 19x10 ET20 BBS CH wheels without a problem.
Marcus, did you consider rolling your fenders before cutting away? Btw, by the looks of that hat, looks like you're ready to go to war with your tools. |

And are you sure about your wheel offsets? I'm wondering if they're off. I'm also running 19x10 (emphasis on the 10) with ET 25, and the same tire you have with no issues. My fenders are not even rolled.

Yes I considered, but in general I’ve always prefered to cut. That few extra MM of clearance provides more buffer / peace of mind. Besides rolling would not have been enough.
Tecknics e90 with rear quarters widened 1.5" (reference pic): Here is the same E90 with the exact wheels I am running (no spacer) Wheel Thread listing the specs: D Sport RD2 19X8.5 and 19X9.5 with Toyo T1R 235/35/19 and 265/30/19. Front is ET38 and rear is ET22 A person with same wheel / offset had them shaved 4mm to get them to fit on his 330i. I’m running 2 degrees in the rear and got an alignment within spec. On my previous projects I always preferred the cut. Either wayspecific inside fender metal is expendable, long as you don’t delam / damage anything. Beats getting the grime in my hair. - Oh the camo - gift from uncle. moms sides from southern mississippi. i love that stuff Last edited by fibercus; 04-20-2007 at 11:30 PM.. |

PM sent - less then 20 discs and they come in packs of 20 for 4.99.
A disc this size is not optimized for this application, but it did allow very close precision. Also beware of the fact that the outside and inside parts of the fender are seperate sheets bonded by a spot weld every couple inches. cutting not carefully would delete the spot welds and cause these two peices to delam / come apart about 1-2 mm. not good. This can be prevented / and remedied as well. Dont start cutting away without other experienced input. btw - good friend of mine used to work @ F1 (Sanfran Valley) and gave me tips, and mentioned how they ussually cut for the more aggressive offsets. |
