Thanks all for the advice so far! Much appreciated. I actually was leaning toward the advan's but it looks like the michelin's are preferred. Also, thanks for recommendation on the general exclaims; unfortunately, they don't make them in the proper size for the 162s, and, it seems that the other more economical choices for the 162 set-up, based on tirerack reviews, would not be a good choice for ride quality or have been panned by others on e90post.
BTW, I know it may seem odd I'm not really looking for performance, and I agree that getting a 3 series isn't the best decision if I'm looking for ride quality, but, in the year I've owned this car, I've gone from not caring so much about ride quality to hating driving anywhere because I've learned where each and every road imperfection is in my part of town, and they all make me cringe before impact. Makes more sense to ditch the RFTs at this point; seems to have done the job for a lot of folks in a similar situation.
