It would appear the austin crowd isn't too enthusiastic these days. DFW has an active scene and Killeen holds their own for being a smaller city.

I just got myself an e92 a few days ago. I just moved back to Austin a few months ago. I take it the group that met at Best Buy off 620 is long gone?

Check the BMW CCA Tejas chapter website for info on our activities in the area. Events every month, usually on 3rd Saturday, and an HPDE coming up at COTA in June.

Been looking for an Austin group. I'm a newbie here...two questions:
1. How the heck do I subscribe to this thread? 2. When and where is the next meeting? Thanks all! VT |

I'd be down. I was going to join the BMW CCA Tejas chapter, but it seems that they only meet once a month and when they do the events are very "yuppie" type things that are of little interest to me (I don't care to take a tour on how olive oil is made). Different strokes for different folks, but I'd be happy to do something a bit more relaxed.

Your assessment is very short-sighted, as there are no "yuppies" in the Tejas Chapter. We just completed a High-Performance Driving Event at COTA along with the two other Texas chapters that was 3 days of driving on the circuit with instructors and other events. Had you looked a little further, you might have been able to get in on that. We're currently planning a BMW Car Corral for the September ALMS event at COTA also, which will include special ticket pricing and parking, and access to the pits/garages, etc. I invite you to contact me via PM and I'd be happy to bring you up to speed on what BMW CCA and Tejas Chapter are all about - our Website is due for a major update soon and will better reflect who we all are and what we do as a club. We're also going to be implementing "social" events where the event actually starts at the destination and doesn't require signing the insurance waiver, etc. as with the "driving" events. I think these are more like what you have in mind, right?

I’ll try and redeem myself by saying this: I met a 335is owner at the Veloway a few weeks ago. We talked cars for a bit and traded numbers. I told him about the Tejas chapter and suggested we both join. Again, sorry for sounding unpleasant. Before I bought my BMW, I came from the Performance LSx world. That crowd in general is full of rednecks and riff raff (I say that half jokingly). Our meetings were usually at the drag strip or at places where the nicest beer you could buy was a Shiner Bock. The BMW CCA club is just a bit different (nothing wrong with that). |

No offense taken...just wanted to make sure that you didn't get the wrong impression from that one event. We have a pretty wide age range in our Chapter and the territory goes from Waco to Corpus, out to El Paso, and everywhere inside that "triangle".
I guess our terminology is a bit different - we have "events" that take a good deal of planning every month; "meetings" are not that frequent, although we have had some meet-and-greets from time to time. That should change in the near future - many of the chapter members would like to participate in purely social events without a group drive involved, so we hope to kick that off soon. COTA just announced a special package for BMW Club members for the September ALMS race - 3 days' admission, parking, pit pass, "hot laps" on the track, and other items for $139. Pretty good price, especially if you've ever been to that track and noticed that nothing there is inexpensive. Quote:

I have a question for all you guys. Is there any place in Austin that might have a Synapse BOV with a Tial flange adapter in stock? I figured I'd give local business a shot before I ordered online.

Hey guys!
Just moved to Austin from SoCal. Love to meet fellow BMW owners, I have a 2011 E93, haven't seen to many fellow E9X owners. Cheers!

E93 is somewhat rarer here than E90 and E92. I honestly don't know why, but it does get brutally hot here to drive top down in August. Anyway E9x are plenty popular in the more affluent parts of town that's for sure... If you're bored go check out BMW of Austin and that alone should convince you of that

With regards to BMW of Austin, how do you all like them for service? It's unfortunate there is only one dealer in town. Cheers!
