My buddy got the same thing on his integra. And guess what, he failed the referee cert, but passed smog like 6 months prior. It's a racket that's all. Think interms of this: More foreclosures == less property tax == more speeding/bs tickets. Take a look at the stats yourself, some counties are reporting 300% increases in speeding tickets in the past year.

Another racket is the tow truck industry. Talk about scratching each others back!

Cop ask me to make appointment with "STATE REFEREE CERTIFICATION."

They will tell me if its illegal or not. What should I do??

Some other friend told me i can get state legal certification for the exhast

from Dinan.

Also test fee was free.
glad you passed! if the tech gave you a paper keep that and show it to the cops when you get pulled over again.

Pretty funny all the hating. Who told you the test cost? It's free and you have to pay to make compliance if you don't pass. As far as the cop goes, they are just hell bent on stopping illegal mods period and have been for several years but it comes and goes in waves. I got pulled over for a secondary check at a DUI checkpoint a couple of weeks ago and my car is bone stock mecahnically, so that shows how much they know. They told me they had to pull over a random number of cars to make it legal. CHP was nice about it and apologized for making us late to the Ducks game. They did the whole 9 yards, pop the hood (stock), visual check underneath (stock) rev motor and hold at 3K (stock again) and their hearty thanks for not being a prick about it. At least I don't have to have a yearly safety inspection where they rag on mods like some other states, didn't see anybody lamenting on that from the right coast! Oh and smog inspections don't exist for new cars here either. I've had my 8 year old E46 tested twice in it's life and mods stay on as they are CARB legal which also is 14 states not just Cali.

California has its positives and negatives. Just like any state.

I hated it when I lived there, but there are also things I miss about it. OK there's only one thing I miss about it. The weather. Everything else sucked except for the carne asada burritos from the hole-in-the-wall joints staffed by people with a combined 3 word English vocabulary.

Racket. If you're legit, the cop should have to pay the fee for being a fucktard.

CARB-approved devices are nothing without proof. I had to have a Dinan CARB sticker on my CF intake of my E36 ///M, even though the intake was approved. You need the sticker/cert. If not, it might as well not be CARB certified.

Yeah, or move to Florida, have more beaches and drive with open headers.

BTW, California is great except for the traffic, high taxes, repressive laws, flaming liberals everywhere, smog, loads of illegals, sanctuary cities, and a thousand other things. Girls are cute though.

True, but the sweltering heat/humidity of Florida coupled with the tendency of hurricanes to pass through and destroy everything.... Well...

Like I said, every area has their drawbacks.

The hurricanes aren't really bad. As bad as wildfires, mudslides, earthquakes, etc. We only have one. Those are each independently as bad or worse. Media makes them out to be really bad but htey aren't unless you are in the less than 1% that gets hammered. I've had 3 eyes go over me and never even lost satellite reception.

Humidity is lower near the shores and only a problem for a couple summer months.

None of those natural disasters come close to the historical damage inflicted by hurricanes and tornadoes. Heck we still have the insurance companies here.

As for taxes - yes they are higher than others, but it is tough to beat property taxes and prop 13 here in CA. You are taxed on the purchase price with a maximum increase of 2% on the home value, per year for as long as you own the home.

We have homestead with a cap in FL too, plus 50k off purchase price in base tax calculation. The cap is portable if you buy another home.

Hurricanes: Don't live in a trailer.
Humidity: Air conditioning, cold beer & less clothes on the hotties year round.
Tornadoes: Don't live in a trailer.

Putting things in perspective:
  • 8am conference call from FL with NYC is not at 5am in the morning.
  • No state income tax.
  • The back porch of my house.

Beautiful back porch. Now that is very nice. Intercoastal must keep you cooler come summer and, of course, the beer. I snow ski, so Florida is out for me. My brother lives there though - Del Ray Beach.

Personally, I loved living in Cal. great driving roads, great food, great racetracks. great weather, great cars and beautiful women. I just couldn't stand the state & local govt's.
It just keeps getting worse and worse, when will it ever stop? I left a great paying job to move to Nevada. But I'm glad I did. Not near as much B.S.
