Trade for Mustang?
I have an '06 330xi and a friend of mine was telling me that I can get a 2011 Mustang V6 for 15-17k which is around what my car is worth (I have Cold Weather, Premium, and Sport Package) my car is fully loaded so I can probably sell it around 16k. After driving his E46 M3 I want more power but there isn't anything out there like a BMW. But then again I only have 255 hp and the mustang v6 comes with 305 hp. I'll have to spend a lot on my car to make it faster and even then it won't be as fast as a v6 mustang. I was planning on installing Coilovers, Intake, Headers, Quads, Mtech Body, AA tune, etc within the year but I'm now considering just going with a Mustang... what would you guys do? Mustang or stick with my 330 and throw all the mods on? Don't really want to leave the euro scene lol. If the argument is just for looks the e90 wins but I honestly don't mind for looks, let's keep performance in mind. Thanks guys!

drive the mustang and that can be your deciding factor, power can be very desirable but in the end it's what YOU want in a car, after i totaled my 325ci, i test drove a clk500, going from 184 hp to 302hp with 339lbs of torque i bought it the day i test drove it, after owning it for a while (i still own it) i mised having a bmw, having the handling and "connection" with the road, don't get me wrong, i like my clk500 a lot and it's a freeway beast and it'll smoke my 328i easily but if i could only choose ONE car i'd still pick my 328 because it's a more driver's car

Look at the power-to-weight ratio of the mustang too. if its heavy, the 300 hp won't matter much. Also, keep in mind that the mustang has a solid rear axle. your 330 is quite a car and don't be fooled by "only" 255 hp.

yea it's really what you prefer, i guess what i'm saying is when you test drive the mustang don't let the speed sell you too quick, you may regret it

I just did a little magazine racing and your 330i is .2 seconds slower in the 0-60 and quarter mile then a 2011 Mustang V6. So in the real world that is basically the same. You would never be able to tell the difference.....in straight line speed. Mind you I'm sure you would be able to tell the difference in other areas, and those areas are probably in your favour in the BMW.

The suspension, handling, build quality, materials and that driver+machine connection do not exist in a stang. Last HPDE @ Watkins Glenn there was a guy with the Boss and he had a miserable time on track. Not only car's fault but nevertheless it's a handful with the solid rear end once you push it. In the end it's your decision. |

I wouldnt do it. The Mustange is not built nearly as well as your BMW. I think the top speed is limited to 108 mph or something ridiculous like that. I also saw a video of the drive shaft breaking at high speed. Go and test drive it though to make a final conclusion.

I would not trade just to get the power increase. BMW's are awesome to drive and you will miss it after driving a mustang daily. Get a tune and keep the car.

I wouldn't do it, unless your car is giving you trouble, I can't explain it but German horses feel stronger then American horses most of the time (just look at performance figures) and the power curve is usually disappointing on 'base' V-6s If it was a 5.0 then thats a different discussion.

0-60 on the mustang is 5.1, on a 330 its 6 secs. But I'm like 80% going to stick with my current car right now, some of you bring up a good point. Thanks guys

Mustang = power, cheaper maintenance, newer car with less miles
Bmw = handling, higher quality materials, better DD (in my opinion), underrated engine In the end go test drive one if you like it test another back to back with your 330i. I wouldn't change just because my friend told me to either. Neither are really a bad choice GL
