Need recommendation for cracked windshield replacement

A small rock chip on my front windshield turned into a foot long crack. Can anyone please recommend a good trustworthy place for windshield replacement in Queens? I'm thinking of taking it to Liberty Auto Glass on Queens Blvd.

Thanks!

I recommend eith taking it to the dealer, or I can help. Safelite and the like with use NON OE windshield moldings and most likely glass. Far lesser quality. Insurance is most likely paying 100%, go OEM. Call me if you need help.

Doesn't that need to be approved by the insurance company? I know Geico doesn't approve factory glass replacement. They use their own windshield guys that probably use cheap glass

Safelite used Sekurit glass which I believe is OEM. Geico has a limit on their labor fee, so you would have to pay the difference out of pocket if you go to the dealer, plus you would have to pay the whole amount and get reimbursed by Geico. Safelite bills Geico directly.

More typical insurance scare tactics. We change glass all the time, use only OEM materials, and have never had a customer pay a cent who had glass insurance.

Have GEICO so good to know. Have small chip near the defroster that’s bound to spread this winter.

Next time I will go with MAC - always good to go with someone who respects the brand.

This. Just make sure to go to a place that will use OEM glass. My previous car was broken into 2x and GEICO only suggested shops that used aftermarket glass. I took it elsewhere and got it replaced with OEM glass and they still paid.

Hey everyone, thanks for the responses. I needed this fixed ASAP so I took it to Liberty Auto Glass this morning since they're in my neighborhood. It was for my dad's Acura, and I don't think we have glass insurance on it, but the price was only $225 so it wasn't too bad.

Next time I'll keep you guys over at MAC in mind. Thanks again!

Make sure that water doesn't leak inside. That's the risk when going with a small shop...

Thanks, I'll be sure to check they did a good job. From what I understand they've been in business for years and years.

Exactly, but it's not just the glass it's also very important they use OE moldings too!
