I have an 07' 328xi with 182k and it looks like the transfer case motor finally went. Debating on doing this in the garage or taking it somewhere. Looks pretty easy but may be annoying doing it on the ground VS a lift. Any food for thought?

Also is it safe to drive? It went into limp mode and it wouldn't drive above 5mph after but after I reset the code it seemed ok, but I haven't gone on a long drive yet. Just don't want to get stranded until I replace the part.
