They didn't charge me for the follow up.

When I picked the car up I suggested to the SA that BMW should be providing the dealers guidance since this issue was happening to quite a few folks while applying their recall. I got a follow up email stating that they had talked it over with all their techs and contacted BMW.

Had my daughter's '07 328I cable recall done today; 105,500 miles. She has had it since 14,500 miles. No issues thus far as a result of the recall work. Car's dash was clean and everything works. Hopefully it'll stay that way. Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas, CA; SA Tig .

Recall

Had this completed and picked up my 335i yesterday. So far no issues. Cup holders work and everything else seems to be fine.

The last day of my extended warranty (transferred from original owner) and CPO is this Friday, so while the car was in, my SA had everything checked. Brake flush was done as well as the rear brakes replaced (rotors, etc.). All fluids topped off. They also found a leak on the valve cover. Total cost was $50 for the deductible for the valve cover gasket.

During my ownership (July 2010) my 2007 has had the following done:

Recalls:
HPFP
Wastegate rattle
Battery Cable

Under the maintenance/bumper to bumper/CPO:

Battery replaced (a month before CPO was to start)
Rear brakes/rotors replaced (twice with this visit)
Front brakes/rotors replaced
Wipers (twice)
Brake flush
Spark plugs
Filters (air and cabin)
Cup holders
Intake manifold
Fuel injectors (all six)

I have been very happy with the service I have received at the dealership - however I am going to dread any other issues that may come up after the 29th. I will looking and searching for a reputable mechanic in the Irvine, CA area as I really like my E90.

I had this issue taken care of back late last year at my local BMW dealership. Replaced the B+ cable and the fuse box costing over $1500 in parts and labor (majority was labor). Now, with this recall I am pushing for reimbursement. I called the 800-525-7417 BMWNA number and spoke with a rep. She stated I will need to wait for my recall letter, which will be delieved around the first week of March. Then take that letter along with my repair reciept into the dealership, and I should be refunded.

So, this is the hope. We'll see how long it takes for this letter to arrive as well as the push back from the dealership wanting to keep the $1500. Once I get the money, it'll be going right back in their pocket for tires and oil change. Haha.
Late to update, but I got my fully refunded check the week after I went to the dealership and made them aware of my issue. Although, they had to perform the recall AGAIN because they didn't use the 'updated' cable part the first time.
(Still a headache because of the costs/troubles I had leading up to this fix: towing, not starting, losing power while driving on freeway...)

I have my appointment on Friday.

Today, I turned on my car and none of my instrument functions are responding (gas gauge, speedometer, etc). Also, my clock is displaying dashes.

It does not appear to be a battery issue, because everything else works (radio, power windows, etc).

After doing a bit of research, it appears that this may be a coding problem? I have not made any coding changes.

Do you guys think this is related at all with the battery cable connector issue?

So I recently bought a 2008 E93. Would I be getting a letter or best just to call and ask?

My car will be dropped off at the dealership in the next 2 weeks for the battery recall. My car has some coded features, anyone knows whether the dealership will reprogram / erase the coded features while they are doing this repair?

Dropped mine off this morning, they are a little backed up, may not get back until tomorrow. I don't mind, I got a loaner 328i w/sport package to drive around in. I do like the new interior. Steering definitely feels lighter (to the bad) and the new motor definately has more lag, but pretty good acceleration. I did notice the motor just sounds loud and ticky when they started it up in the garage. I would have a hard time justifying $45k for that car with a 4 cylinder.

Hey Guys, brought my vert in the other week for the cable replacement. Now the top won't move at all. Do you guys think the problem is related to the service? Like the dealer cut some wires accidentally when they made the replacement? Thanks.

Had the issue happen to me in january and paid $1,600 out of pocket to replace battery cable and fusebox as well as power steering pump because it was damaged due to the fact the car had no power and the wheel needed to be turned...anyway took the car in to bmw to make sure recall had already been done, gave them my receipt...1 month later i get a call saying everything is approved and i should get a check in the mail...1 week later i get my check lol
