Got mine replaced last week. My SA did a thorough check on my car since it's still under CPO. Looks like I'm getting new turbos, gaskets, injectors, plugs....all for $50!

Clock Reset

I found this thread after searching last night for my new issue. When I get in the car, the clock is reset, the trip odometer, MPG, and Avg. Speed are all reset every time. This happened immediately after I brought the car home from the dealership last night after having the battery connector recall performed. They did not perform any other service to the car. Anyone have any thoughts on my next steps? Car runs fine and the stereo keeps all settings, but the stupid clock and Avg. MPG thing is really annoying.

IMO communication with the dealer IS an issue. I dropped Blackberry off on a Wednesday at 4:30pm for the 2-hr recall. I figured she'd be ready by lunchtime the next day. Nope. I called the SA the next late afternoon twice and left a message that he didn't return. He finally called lunchtime on Friday to say she was ready sans a wash. I told him don't bother with the wash as I didn't want any swirl marks and would be there within 30 minutes with their loaner. When I arrived I waited 20 minutes for them to bring her around.....filthy. I was horrified and asked the driver WTF happened? He said, "yeah I saw when you brought it in it was clean". Ummm yeah! He said there was a storm the first night then sunny and hot the next day as she sat under a tree. She was covered in brown dirt spots and sap. And why was my trunk items in disarray like someone was looking for something? Not cool.

So when the SA called twice the next week insisting I take the email survey because "that's how he gets paid," I made sure to reference all of that. He'll probably think twice before harassing someone to take the survey when he didn't even bother to return my calls. I will not be returning to this dealership again. It was my first time and last time using them (Moritz BMW). I will definitely go back to using my original dealer from now on.

They had to disconnect your battery which is in the trunk.

Did you even have an appointment? You didn't say in your post. I'm not sure what they are supposed to do with your car when you drop it off at 4:30. It rained. It happens. They don't park every car in the shop at night.

And the battery is in the trunk.

I'm not saying you had great service obviously the SA should have called you back, but sometimes people expect too much.

In response to BLKBRY

You're absolutely right SA communication is key to finding out status of you vehicle or even letting you know if there's additional work that needs to be done. In my case it ended up being both. I brought my car in first thing Monday AM and was told it'd be back in my hands by 6 PM service closing time. Well, guess what...I didn't get my car back till Wednesday 6 PM. It was frustrating but at least I received a loaner. It just seemed like every time I called the SA (yes I had to call every time to receive status if my vehicle) there was more HE wanted to get checked and more money came out of my pocket. I mean I'm glad he was attentive to my vehicle by some things just seemed a little ridiculous on what he wanted to get checked. I've dealt with this SA all the time but it seems it gets more worse when I get work done. To sum it all up, I fought some things that I wanted checked and worked it out with him but didn't expect more money to come outta my pocket. By Wednesday, I already missed my car, had to be at a 24 hr shift the next day and was tired to go home.

Yes I had an appointment made 2 weeks in advance for 5pm the day I dropped her off. I do expect a return phone call letting me know it would take a couple days instead of a couple hours.

Ok on the battery in the trunk.

Got the recall done on my 2008 335i yesterday, picked it up this morning. Brand new 128 coupe as a loaner.

No problems, except the service guys missed seeing the prominent note on my account stating the tire pressures were to be 38 all around (ditched runflats long ago) and of course they set them back to stock pressures. Fortunately, I noticed this on the service report and pointed it out to the service advisor, who had them correct it.

No other issues, nothing reset, everything just like it was when I dropped the car off.

So I guess I am lucky as the 2006 330i is not included in this recall?

Got a letter from the dealership asking for us to bring the car in for this to be fixed up. This was probably a couple of months ago now if I remember correctly. (Australia)

I need some guidance on this one because I have had the recall done and I couldn't start my car today.

This happened BEFORE I had the recall, and I replaced the battery. I was really hoping the recall would fix it.

When the condition happens, my car has power, I can open windows, roof, stereo, phone.... all works, lights come on when I put in the fob... but when I push the start button nothing - I get a click inside - like a solenoid, not a click on the starter.

I wait maybe an hour, car starts fine.

Today, car didn't start. I get the car towed to my mechanic - take the car of the flatbed and push the button... the F'n thing starts....

No codes, nothing.

Anybody have any idea? My mechanic doesn't. (he did replace the ground strap last time.
