Smile Melissa's first time at the strip with her Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo

Hi guys,
Back in January, Melissa took her Vishnu/FFTEC single turbo 335 to the track. Here is more info on her car. She didn't (and still doesn't) have a cage. And this was her first time on slicks and her 1st time ever running at the track. So she spent the day with us working on her launch and shifting. Since she had no cage, she wasn't looking to break any records and lifted of the throttle once shot got in forth gear (so as to adhere to the NHRA limit of 11.5et for cage-less cars). Since this was her fist time at the track and no records were close to being broken, I never bothered to look at her stack of timeslips. Until now. One run in particular got my attention and it was pretty darn good all things considered.

Her 60' was a pretty decent 1.694s. She had the Procede's 2-step set at 5000rpm and the aux rev limit at 7100rpm. With slicks, she should be in the 1.5x range. But her 1/8th mile trap was a ridiculous 103.577mph and the only N54 powered car to ever run faster is mine. The 1/8th mile ET was also an excellent 7.203 which is only 0.2s off my world record run. And despite lifting off the throttle in 4th gear (low 123mph traps), she still crossed the lights at a very respectable (and NHRA defiant) 11.118s. Quite obviously a mid-10s car given that it makes a bit more power than mine did when i ran a 10.8. And Melissa is probably a good 60lbs lighter than me

She is gearing up to run her car at the next Shift-Sector event to give that girl with the C6 ZR1 a run for her money.

Great job!! Now I can't wait to get out and defy the NHRA in the Xi, because that's never getting a cage.

Didn't they change the NHRA cage rule for cars 2008 and newer, so they aren't required until they run 9s or over 135mph?

The rule technically state "unaltered 2008 model year or newer", but nobody is exacty sure how tracks will interpret "unaltered".

We thought that too, fully expecting to run the car hard without issues. But running that quick without a cage requires that you run a completely stock car running street legal radials. This basically gives exemption to factory 10s cars like GTRs, 997.2tt, ZR1s, etc,. The moment you have any mods whatsoever, the usual 11.5ET rule applies to you. So basically, nothing has changed as far as modded cars is concerned.

She was running straight e85 and meth at 22-23psi. Same as when she put down 660whp. Definitely had more power than it needed (or she wanted) at the time. On the first few runs, she was only running 18-19psi of boost and was still running low 11s.

Perhaps... I've have been getting strange looks lately. In case anyone is wondering, I do not force my dog to wear fashion accessories. Those are to protect her eyes from UV rays since she has pannus.

Why is she getting off the gas? She would have still been kicked out for a sub 11.5 run, may as well stay on it. I wanna see that 130+ trap!

Interested to see some shiftsector vids. The N54 still isn't ready to start competing with the big dogs yet but it's getting there.
