Pro Tuning Freaks

Hello everyone. A quick blurb before I have to get to work this morning. Met with Dzenno last night to tune my car. I am bone stock save an except for a DCI. I am running 91 octane with Stage 1 sport (COBB).

In short I expressed my concerns of using my car as a daily driver and not wanting to push the car to it’s limits. Dzenno completely understood my concerns and worked with the confines of my current set up. The result is a car with even more power and a smoother delivery.

Dzenno clearly knows what he is doing as he walked me through every detail of the tune including his thoughts and strategy. Even as we tuned into the late night Dzenno made sure that I was happy with every aspect of the car before he left.

For a couple hundred bucks his service is definitely worth it. It has given me peace of mine (first time running a tune) and has improved the car’s delivery of power substantially.
If anyone has any specific questions about his service feel free to PM me.

My car's running flawlessly only with noticeably more power and smoother feel after their pro tune, really happy with it and highly recommend it to anyone thinking of doing it. Dzenno is good!

Dude, you need to post something lol....post up some logs or virtual dyno numbers!

Nighthawk just recently did the same
Thing and posted #'s. I'm very curious to see what you put down on his "conservative" tuning considering my set-up is very similar.

I'm running JB4 and would like to compare

Btw, dzenno is great! met him at the dyno in Oakville, very knowledgeable guy.

Everyone getting pro-tuned should find a friend with a v-box to see what kind of real life tangible gains they are getting. It would be pretty sweet to have a compilation of real world gains.

It would also provide a lot of comparative data.

I love the vbox. You have to hit some pretty crazy speeds with it though to see anything there right? I say people go hit the dynos more or maybe a dyno day?

I have a V-box, you don't have to go crazy with it, just have to have the right data in it.

And I am working on trying to do another dyno day like I did a couple of years ago, and hoping this one will work out better, and it will be AWD friendly.

Hope everyone had a nice long weekend.

As promised attached is my base log which is Stage 1 Sport (V401) on 91 Shell pump gas AND the log from my final pull after Dzenno was done doing his thing.

As stated before, I am driving a 2008 335 coupe bone stock except for an Injen DCI. I run 91 from Shell only. I changed my plugs at 48k (shortly before tune). No issues thus far.

My instructions to Dzenno were to
1) Ensure my car was running properly on the off the shelf map
2) If running properly tweak the map to gain more power and improve power delivery
3) My main concern is reliability as I do not have deep pockets and I drive my car all year round... reliability is my top priority.

Based on my requests Dzenno decided to leave boost alone. I was barley hitting 14 psi but held at 13 psi consistently and I was more than happy with that.

It looks like your timing is raised by 3+ degrees across the board. Wow, your logs show up to -6 timing pulls on cylinder1 and multiple cylinders pulling -3 at the same time. That's a little more aggressive than I understood from COBB's input on acceptable timing. But good to know that it's probably ok.

Curious why you didn't just go with S1 Aggressive and 94 Ultra? Would have gained similar power with probably less timing pulls and no custom tuning costs.

Logs look fine to me. I get a correction here and there too on 91 shell. When i was out with Dzenno he showed me corrections happening even at cruise without ever stepping on it and stock tune also corrects. I just plotted it in vdyno looks like +15whp +20-25wtq, pretty nice given 91 and only intake and not touching boost. Probably a ton left here with 94

Stage 1+ runs a lot more boost though no? Like 17-18psi. That would be a bad idea IMHO

Corrections aren't a bad thing. We look for certain groups of corrections that lead us to believe there is an actual "noisy" event causing them. You can get random corrections on decel. With 91 octane the car has TONS of corrections on stock mapping and unmodded.

We are trying to get dzenno set up here. Until then you can reach him on google talk / gchat using dzenno@protuningfreaks.com

We utilized google apps for business so that we would be available to chat through our ptf emails.

I had the same observations with Dzenno. Multiple corrections during cruise but little under WOT.

Dzenno told me that as long as we are not seeing corrections in 3 consecutive cylinders of more than 3 degrees (I think) than we should be okay.

I decided to go with Stage 1 Sport on 91 as I live out east and I can only find 1 station with 94 believe it or not.

That's good to know. Probably 3 cylinders in one bank pulling in unison.

Looks like you did your tuning in 22-24 degrees at night.
I would do some daytime logs to be sure that timing is still good in hotter IAT (multi gear highway pull is ideal).

If you really want to keep it safe for a daily driver then get a FMIC and keep the same map.
The FMIC alone will give you gains, but it's hard not to turn it up for more power.
