Basic heater panel to advanced heater panel upgrade

Hi guys has any one managed to do this or found a way to swap a basic heater panel to a advanced one

We managed to do this to the E60 5 series bmw

Reason why i ask i got a friend who's looking to fit a cic and satnav dashboard to his car but i dont think his basic heater panel will fit at the top above the cic nor will the surround of the advanced one fit

Has any one found a way round this thanks
