Another Snob BMW Owner

I did some polishing on my buddies Challenger SRT8 yesterday and was taking it back to his place to pick up my M6. Thought I would stop and fill it up for him as a thank you for some really good business he sent me a while back. Guy in a E92 M3 pulls up to fill his car next to me. It appeared to be bone stock, but was really clean compared to most others I see around here. I said to him
"I like your car. Nice to see one so well taken care of." What's his response?
"Yeah, what would you know about an M3? Stick with your POS Dodge hick mobile." I said nothing and just went about my business.

What the hell is that about? This is why I am not proud to say I own a BMW. Sure the Challenger isn't my cup of tea either, but I will admit that his example is much better built then my 135I was. He also tracks this thing every weekend and it takes the abuse much better then any BMW I have owned. ( I.E no limp home mode or overheated brakes ) To me, it is the same situation with the Corvette. People seem to have branded buyers of these vehicles as rednecks or hicks even though alot of owners ( Jay Leno, Craig Jackson, and even the owner of this car who has a Caddilac CTS-V as his daily driver) are far from it. But to actually call someone down in public when they try an give you a compliment, that says BMW douche all day long and that is a trait that far too many of BMW owners enforce. This clown was a perfect example.

I'd be speechless too if I were in your shoes.

lmfao @ this thread.

my SRT8 Challenger is the best cruiser i have ever driven. very comfortable and i don't anticipate that it will fail mechanically all over itself like my poor 3-series has.

i love my 335 to death as well, but it has gone through 2 fuel pumps, 2 turbos, an oil leak and coil #5 was jacked up.

my old SRT8300C never spent time in the shop.

i don't think it's BMW owners, i think it's just people in general. You approached him with respect and praise and he mistook that for weakness... i notice a lot of that, if you would've been in your M6 and ignore his M3, he would've been the one to praise you. Happens to me all the time, when i'm in my beater SUV and kids pass by me in their 3 series or c class or infiniti g37 they look at me like, "that poor schmuck, with an 'ol ass SUV", but when they see me in Z4 everybody's throwing flowers at my feet. I just politely nod and go on my way, you never know what kinda sicko you might bump against.

Pretty lame... He's just a douche. We all run into them from time to time too.

Stupid to put someone down because of a car, everyone has different taste and there are so many good cars out there.

Up here in Vermont people don't say things like that to other people... maybe its because we have the largest amount of "armed" people per capita of any state (hunters make up most of em')... so people generally stick to themselves.. they certainly don't call people rednecks... mostly because most all of us are or have them in our family... ever fight a farmer before? not usually a good outcome something about slinging 20,000 bays of hay a year can make one mighty strong.

Yes it is... everytime I leave for any length of time I can't wait to come home... even more ironinc is that we have highest gun ownership percentage and are always either 1 or 2 in lowest crime rate is another bonus... funny thing is rednecks are often not theifs either, they know the value of a dollar and how to treat people, we get people coming into our dealership who smell like cow manure who many folks would swear they don't have two sticks to rub together.. they come in and write a check for their vehicle... last week we had such a customer.. we called their bank to verify funds and the lady at the bank said "let them buy whatever they want" Some of our best customers are just that type of folk... treat them like real people and next thing you know they become very loyal customers, and friends... and I myself prefer having more friends then enemies.

Day to day i see Merc owners being more pricks than anyone...that includes porsche, bentley, bmw, etc. (i work in west l.a.). The bigger the merc the bigger the prick...they tailgate, weave in and out of traffic as if they'll get anywhere faster, etc.

In Los Angeles, your car pretty much defines everything about you. It's almost like your ID.

i would have to disagree - in Texas, any person driving a vehicle (with the exception of a person with previous felonies) can carry a gun in their car without a license.

in Houston, just assume everyone around you has a gun in their car, because it's legal.

Houston = 6.6MM people
