Quaife LSD question
Well, I'm not familiar with drivetrain stuff so sorry if it was a noob question. I'm about to order this " http://www.**********s.com/_e/E92_Dr...W_E92_335i.htm " ( Quaife LSD ) Sure I know how does the LSD work and stuff, I'm taking to a shop to make the job, but the question is will it fit my e92 335i the built date 06/2006, is the crown wheel is welded to the OEM diff? or can be be dismantled by unbolting?

HP Autowerks has the Quaife for $1450 plus shipping, about $200 less than **********s...Quaife should fit in your car if it is MT with 3.08 final drive ratio.

The Quaife ATB Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one. With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheelspin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip (along the path of least resistance). The Quaife, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel. We guarantee the lowest price period and will price match!

It really is a great dif, too bad my supplier stopped carrying them
We've got two in stock now, I'll sell them for hundreds less than either website.. We're replacing our lineup and are now stocking teh Wavetrac differentials, as seen in the sponsors for sale section in this forum. They have an install kit available for post 9/2007 production 335i with an MT. and come July, will have for you guys with an AT as well! Upgrading teh rear dif is an awesome upgrade for any 335i |

Bird's Auto in the UK:
http://www.birdsauto.com/quaife/mode...0%28E90/E91%29 Quaife has the right diff for AT, while Wavetrac only has a diff for MT. You might have only one option, and that would be the Quaife diff, and you can't go wrong with that choice!

Wow.
OP, you've got people lining up at your door to sell you one cheap. Wish I had that problem. Also, if memory serves, the AT cars are mostly bolted diff, except a short period of a few months in '08. I think. I know there was a thread on which diffs are welded, and which are bolted.

They accused me of just slapping my order number on the box and sending it back instead of calling and receiving an RMA; nothing could have been further from the truth. I called for an RMA number and they gave me one... since I typically don't memorize order numbers, how was I to know that the RMA happened to by my order number? In any case, not my problem... I did what I was supposed to. When the box showed up on their doorstep, they called me and stopped short of calling me a liar stating that "you can't just write your order number on a box and send it back". I told them that was not the case, and the guy said "how am I supposed to know that for sure?" to which I told him I don't work there and suggested he speak to his colleague that issued the RMA. Still, he didn't believe me, was interruptive, and unprofessional. **********s may have some decent prices, but now, it's a matter of principle. I'd gladly pay an extra $200 elsewhere. If you never have to return anything, than, you may be okay, but I'm through with them. Good luck with the purchase. |
