Weird rear Brake reset milage

I did the rear brakes on an 2006 e90 325i sedan.
The dash was saying 900km remaining before rear brake change and reset was done.
Put a new sensor in also.
So note the brake warning notification ! Was not on.

So after rear brake pad change and new sensor installation, I reset the rear brake service in the dash.

Problem is the reset km said 7000 km.
Hmmmmm
I thought it should be 27000km

What did I do wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Mine's stuck at 9000 miles. Weird. Brand new pads, 3000 miles ago, dealer has reset 3x. I just ignore it now.

How did you reset? I'm in the same situation and can't figure out how to reset. Bentley and web search both yielded nothing, all info I can find is for non iDrive models and those instructions don't work for me.

From Dash.
Insert key. Push start but no brake.
Then wait till the chime stops.
Then press brake and odo reset at the same time and hold till you either see yellow triangle or service reset options.

Then on your signal stalk, left of "P" that up/down scroll is how you navigate to each option.
Then press or hold BC button resets what ever option you want.

When done, press brake and remove key.

Look it up on you tube.

none of the instructions I read mentioned holding the brake, I will have to try that tomorrow. thanks, wish me luck... I was able to get into the menu (I thought) but resetting the brake interval wasn't an option, the only option I got was an upcoming vehicle inspection.

Hello.

I am having similar issues, having replaced front and rear pads including sensors

But now I cannot get the dash lights to reset, having used a guide that successfully reset oil, brake fluid and air filter lights in the past.

Interested to know if the method using the brake pedal works, as I could do with some good news!

Weejp and N8N
Glad to help out.

Just something i found.
Before physically doing a brake job, reset it first.
The above is only if your sensor is not worn or lite on the dash.

Unfortunately, best way to know when to change is by visual/physical inspection. Computer only calculates(based on different factors) and does not measure. If the small dash light is on with yellow or red 'brake', that means sensor is tripped and will have to change pads.

Had a similar thing where service said rears needs to be changed. Got everything. Opened it up only to find I had 50% life left on pads. So now, I bypassed the cable and regularly visually inspect pads. On board computer is useless IMO.

Can someone verify if the brake sensor is a proximity sensor also or not?
Cause the shape is an L not like the e46 ones.

Also, the sensors connector is 2 wire and it can be connected either way, am I correct there?

pretty sure it only connects one way, I think two pins are "stage 1" and the other two are "stage 2" (AKA your pads are worn out) I didn't take pictures however and my old sensors are in the trash so I can't probe them to verify.
