Fuchs or castrol?

I want to do a interim oil change before the winter kicks in as I don't like the thought of waiting another 13 to have my oil changed,

So I checked national website and it says they are now using Fuchs oils instead of castrol edge?

So I'm debating whether to buy my own castrol edge and do it myself or would Fuchs be ok?

Trust me Waspo, I'm no expert I too have only used Castrol, Mobil on occassions and Petronus oil, but Fuchs is a known quantity but if the expense say between Fuchs and Castrol isn't that great sometimes you'd have to ask whether saving a few quid is worth it

i never said that. OP's statement is that Fuchs is 48, Castrol's naturally more, I'm a Castrol dealer Castrol's been selected as on reputation its nigh on unsappassed, people therefore when asking questions are reassured, but it costs more, if Castrol's say 15 or so more than Fuchs then you'd have to ask whether 15 is better saved or used wisely on Castrol.

Fuchs as stated should meet LL04, so standatd wise it ticks all boxes, but on known reputation, Castrol's the known quantity, that's what perhaps my earlier statement should of stated .

OK, just asking what is best.

Syner Z is LL04 and as good as any other oil IMO. Likewise Britoil. Castrol is simply a marketing exercise. It's good oil, don't get me wrong. But you're paying for the name.

Personally I would recommend Fuchs Titan oil. We stock both brands but sell way more Fuchs was a first fill supplier for all German car makers until Mercedes switched to Petronas.. We get great feedback on it and the prices are excellent. I have a document from VAG recognising the quality of the product. Please let me know if I can help.

Garage List
I've used both in the past.

As people have mentioned, all required specifications are met, so really makes no odds IMO - especially if you're the kind of guy that changes the oil every 12 months fairly religiously.

Has anyone asked Oilman over on Opie ? He usually gives good (albeit not necessarily totally impartial) advice.
