Just wanted to chime in on here with some first impressions. I've been running the cobb tune on my car for almost a week.

Specs of the car here --> (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=697638) I read a lot of posts talking about the PPK etc. My car is an xdrive e90 with PPK2 and I have had no issues with the tune.

First impressions:
The install couldn't be easier folks. It's a simple, convenient install/un-install. I'm running the aggressive map and the car pulls really nicely. The power is very linear and smooth through all gears. The car feels stable, consistent and predictable. Some of the other tunes I have tried are more raw in terms of power delivery and you can kind of feel when the boost is really kicking in. The Cobb tune is really smooth from stop all the way up. For those with the PPK - there is a noticeable difference between the car running PPK and with the Cobb tune. If you are on the fence, jump over, you won't be disappointed. This is a great product. I am really happy with it.

Did you ever dyno PPK2? How much HP gain on the butt dyno you think?

This is a question to the early adopters with the 6 speed auto, or one that could be fielded by Rob. Is there any sort of throttle "smoothing" that takes place with the Cobb tune? I notice that my 335 is very "jerky" from a stop unless I really baby the throttle. It is actually to the point that my wife complains about it. My e91 328 had a similar issue that was cured by the Active Autowerke tune. It remapped the throttle to be more progressive and eliminate the throttle lag or 'dead spot' at the top of pedal application. I'm pretty sure that is what is going on with my 335 is that I am pushing the throttle a bit harder than I would prefer in order to bypass the soft spot. This in turn causes the trans to almost instantly upshift which just amplifies the jerkiness. Sorry for the long-winded question but I am giving serious thought to buying this tune and just want to know if this problem will be better, the same or worse as a result.

I'll be able to tell you soon enough... Another reason I got rid of the procede for now ...

This very behavior drives me crazy. We have removed some of it, however not all as of yet. Working on it.

Cheers,
Rob

Just making sure incase n55 is different for some reason
We never guarantee invisibility, however it should be similar to the N54.

Rob, I'm trying to install it but it says it can't communicate with the car. I uninstalled the procede last night. Does it have anything to do with canclear and readiness etc?

*edit: found the problem to be a pushed in connector in my obd2 port

Hello Rob, two questions:

I have a 6-speed auto 2012 335i coupe (production date Oct 2011).

Would this tune work on my car?

And does it include the speed delimeter for non Sports cars?

Thanks!

So Rob@Cobb, we are assuming it removes the CEL for cat readiness codes. Can you confirm?

COBB doesn't make "Stage 3" Maps for FBO + Meth integration; and nobody should tune for meth. It's a big "No no" in case the meth tank empties mid-pull (or any meth flow related problems) & then you're running an over aggressive tune. Expect the N55 Maps to eventually be the same as the N54 OTS (Off the Shelf) Maps:
  • Stage 1 - Stock Application
  • Stage 1+ - Requires Aftermarket FMIC
  • Stage 2 - Requires Catless/High Flow Cat Downpipe
  • Stage 2+ - Requires Aftermarket FMIC and DPs
  • Beta Race Maps
  • Beta E30 Maps

Within each map you have the: Drive, Sport & Aggressive (Requires 93 octane & data logging) settings.

It's actually safer if you run your meth system completely independent of your tune, like on an Aquamist HFS-3 that has it's own fail safe & flow sensor.

It'll prob be the same as the COBB Stage 2 and Stage 2+ Maps. The catless "tuner code" will be canceled out by the COBB tune, preventing a CEL from appearing on your dash for this specific mod (a CEL will still appear if you have a boost leak or any other problem). This will NOT allow you to pass an OBD/Emissions Testing.

It technically will work, however we have not yet released the N55 AP outside of the US. A world release is being planned in the next few months.

Rob

didnt dyno before and after. butt dyno tells me the car pulls harder now. aside from the power increase, the car drives smoother and the power delivery/throttle response is improved.

Correct, the AP will support your build date as it is a MY2011. Stage 2 mapping is not quite out, however we are working on it.

Codes should not be a worry with our tunes as long as the correct tune for the modifications are run.

Just got my AP today. I wish I could have provided a review, but I also have unrecognized ROM. Just sent the file off to Cobb about an hour ago. I'm coming from a JB Stage 1, so I'm eager to see how this compares.
