What are you guys doing for SCR removal?

Hey,
Was wondering what some of you guys were doing who had installed the alphabet delete regarding the SCR. I have seen unobtainium welding have an SCR delete pipe that is made to order. And Buzzken makes an scr delete for the x5 but not for 335d. I emailed a query and they responded a month or so until it it was available.

Are you guys getting custom pipes put on or just bashing out the inside? Does the swirl valve go too?

I live in California, and with all the vw smog madness. I want to have all of my bases covered just in case. So that means keeping my DPF and SCR just in case I might have to reinstall for a newer emissions test someday, or if I could not sell the car as is if I ever decided too, i could put it back to stock.

What is the general consensus on this?

The banned one is coming out with downpipe-back exhaust soon. That is what I'm going to use, and I'm keeping all my emissions crap in case I ever need to reverse it all.

Just wake sure you guys flush your DEF/Urea tanks thoroughly with distilled water to prevent any crystallization to avoid DEF/SCR failure in the future should you have to revert back to stock.

Yes good call on flushing the urea. And refilling it with distilled water.
I contacted Bohl for a dp price and got a message immediately back from a guy named Jess. Is it the same banned whistler guy by any chance?

Unfortunately downpipe-back exhausts are going to be a while still. But Bohl Diesel (Jess) can put a nice full exhaust together for you in the meantime.

Dave,

Not sure what you mean. A downpipe-back exhaust is a full exhaust, at least in my mind. Does he have those available now? We talked a couple of weeks ago and he had sent some tweaks to the supplier, so it there were none available.

So Jess is making whole exhaust systems in the interim until the production supplier is ready?

He makes a very nice midpipe that utilizes the 335i gas exhausts for our cars. Its the best option at the moment until the production exhausts are available.

Having done the first 335I exhaust system, I can't imagine a better sound or more power. I wouldn't think of it as a stop gap. I'll take you for a ride and make a believer or of you.

You were certainly not the first bruh, I had done mine last year and I probably wasn't the first either ......That being said, yes it does have a wonderful sound and solves the SCR dilemma!

Full exhaust with banned one's help. Storing all my smog equipment including my original stock DDE.

Iaknown, sorry. I didn't realize you hacked up a 335i system. I did mine on a whim to see if out could be done. I should have read your thread about it. Probably would have saved me a few hours with the tig.

For a California resident it seems not worth it to me to do anything more than blocking the EGR given the hassle of reinstalling the DPF, etc. I am running a Racechip Ultimate and water meth and I have been able to get a BIG performance gain without the alphabet delete. That said, if I didn't live in CA I would do an alphabet delete in a heartbeat. I am going to get Jarek's stage 2 that is compatible with emissions equipment as well as a Wagner IC. Once I am done with those mods I'm going to call it a day on engine mods.
