I'm also interested in replacing my stock brakes with a BMW Performance kit or 335i setup. I've done some searching and from what i understood, the calipers, discs & pads are bolt on. The only issue would be with the parking brake system.
The inner diameter of the disc from the 335i e-brk shoes being 185mm, it will not work with the stock 328i e-brk system that are 160mm. In order to have this working, you'll need to replace the wheel carrier, hub bearing & e-brk shoes components. I did a search on RealOEM.com and all 330i, 328xi & 335i (E90) has the same part # for wheel carrier and can be use for this project. I also found this other thread where the inner diameter of the disc was reduced by a precision engineering shop to fit the 328i e-brake shoes. With this done, it's pretty much bolt on at a cheaper cost and lot less labour involved... http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ht=brake+160mm I never did this mod yet and i only base my info from what i've seen on this forum, on RealOEM.com and what i've been told from the parts dept at my local BMW dealer so i could be mistaken... |

Do you know if there is a difference between the AWD and RWD brakes? For whatever reason, I am thinking they are not the same. Seems alot of the xi and i models have different brake, suspension, etc componets due to the AWD system.. I could be wrong but have no idea. It is to my understanding the stock rear 335's will not work. I think replacing the hub and other parts will get the stock e-brake from the 328 to work but am not sure. We need someone that has ACTUALLY done this to respond... Gavin@MMW, I'm looking at you. Many of us need to know how you got the rears to work. Thanks.

I'm having a small personal victory here because it seems Xi cars (especially Tourings) tend to miss out on a lot of good mods. |

No extra parts were needed outside of what I stated AWD/RWD are the same brakes I'm pretty sure, so long as its a 335. We got the parts from a clients car who we put a Brembo Kit on, he didnt want them so We figured lets slap them on the 328 Our shop did the work, if your local we can do yours too |

the 135 brakes are a 6 pot, but they actually dont work as good as the 335 brakes do, there was a huge conversation on here about this a while back, and the 335 brakes stop better and more reliable then the 135, and when you put the 335 brakes on a 328 it stops like crazy, since the 328 is already 2-300lbs lighter then the 335. For what its worth, we have an Auto - so we dont use the parking brake anyway.. |

Might as well just copy me on that PM as well. ...OR if you have the time, do a DIY - maybe not a step by step, but maybe parts list, and the basics of what needs to be done. I am going to say I am NOT local, I live in PA, last time I checked, anything good seems to always be located in CA or FL ... How is the pedal feel? still just as firm? no fade? ...whatsup with some picstures!!

Parts Needed for 328 - 335 Brake Upgrade:
2x 335 complete front calipers 2x 335 complete rear calipers 2x Front 335 rotors (any brand, can be aftermarket) 2x rear 335 rotors (OEM or Aftermarket) 2x front brakes pads (OEM or Aftermarket) 2x Rear brake pads (OEM or Aftermarket) optional: 335 parking brake assembly stainless steel brake lines Note: The 328/325/330 are about 2-300lbs lighter then the 335, so this upgrade stops like crazy. The feel of the pedal is perfectly fine like stock, doesnt fade, no issues. Side Note: 2 piece front Z4-35 rotors may work for this also, 2011+ models. |

1st pic - 328 Fronts still on the car. The 335 front rotors now pretty much cover the entire dust shield.
2nd pic - 335 calipers off car, carriers are not inserted. 3rd pic - 328 vs 335 front rotor. *Post Edit* 4th pic - Just found a pic on my phone after install, 335 front caliper/rotor seen through 18" wheel. I looked but don't have a side by side comparison of the 328 vs 335 caliper. Also no rear pics... Last edited by Navacellus; 09-23-2011 at 02:34 PM.. |

If want to keep ebrake, 328 just need extra 335 parking brake assembly, but 325 will require much more work. Please correct me if I am wrong. (I still have a set of 335 rear brake somewhere in my house...) |

Yes the parking brake needs to be changed to the 335 style if you want it to remain functional |
