USB coding cable and software for $38

Hi all, after our last road trip to the USA I have been trying to figure out how to turn off the Canadian DRL after seeing how good just having the angel eyes on looks. Finally bit the bullet and ordered a cable, it shipped with all needed software and was only $38 plus $10 shipping.

eBay link here

It took a few hours to figure out the coding; I have a 2006 and am in Canada with forced halogens for daytime running lights, I was unable to switch to angel eyes as DRL so I turned off the h7 halogen running lights and amber corner lights and use the parking light setting to run with only the angel eyes on during the day.

Anyone looking to do this I used the following posts:

AoshichanX's 'how to code your vehicle - for free'

Following xxxjecxxx's PDF guide, I found the last part of the PDF confusing so I ended up using this one when I was coding the car, I substituted the NCS Load Profil profile name Fisterprofile with FSW PSW MAN

so you think it's the same cable that people buy for $100? or are there any important differences?

I would say so, yes, there were no errors or communication issues

I followed the posted instructions to the letter and everything was exactly to the letter. I am happy to have the front lights exactly as I want them and knowing that I can turn them back on or on in any configuration is pretty nice.

It shipped with the latest coding software but the Daten files were v39 and the latest is v42 so judging by the posts I have read if you have a newer car or have had your modules updated you may have to download the latest Daten version or your tac, fuel and fuel usage guage will not work after coding the KOMBI.

Probably won't work on cars from 2007-onwards (without modifications)

Thats right, the site says it covers years 1998-2007.

I wonder if the 2008 cable works on prior models.
