Question What to mod on leased 2010 328i couple?

Im thinking of getting a 2010 328i coupe lease and i want to mod it as much as i can...I have to take the mods off when i give the car back.. I was thinking of getting it lowered, tints on the windows, smoke the back lights, and get an intake.

What do you guys think i should/shouldn't do?
thanks
(if u could also give me links and specific names for the parts that'd be great)

IMO, I don't think it makes any sense to mod a car that is leased since you are going to have to take it off. Why bother wasting the money?

People who own the car mod it and part out as well cuz you dont really drive the car for ever.

I say tints are a must in EVERY car period. Just my 2 cent.

If I were to lease a car, I would put in the least amount of options I can live with (e.g., AT). Anything else will only add up to the cost of the lease.

My rule of thumb: If you don't own it and/or if you can't afford it, don't mod it.

Of course it adds up, but you only pay for what you use (for factory options) (ie: cost - residual). Same thing when you buy a car then sell it.

You can put all of those mods back to stock pretty easily...window tint will take a long afternoon to get fully off, not sure about smoking the tail lights, might want to just buy new ones that are smoked and have the OEM ones as backup. You can also do engine management easily enough, along with ICE/body kits if you keep the factory parts.

Because modding cars is sweet.

It makes sense when you don't want to drive you car for longer then 2-3 years. You will always lose money trading in brand new cars after 2-3 years instead of leasing. Also with a new model change coming up in a couple years for the E90, it would be stupid to buy a new one in the next few years because the value will drop like crazy when the re-design comes out.

Some people are undecided like myself if I do want to end up buying after the lease is over. Plus there are mods that you can easily take off and then resell. One thing about leasing a car is that the mods I want should be high quality so that, after the lease, I can still get back a good % back from reselling, ie wheels, exhaust, intake. To me, modding is fun and if I can afford to do it then so be it.

For me this is my plan since I'm leasing my car as well.

- High quality wheels (good resale value)
- Tint
- Angel eyes upgrade
- Black kidney grills
- Basically anything that is easy to take off or bring back to stock

The things I wouldnt do is anything permanent, ie body work that isnt a direct replacement where you can just switch out the bumper cover.

I would buy black kidney grilles. these are easy to replace with OEM ones when the lease is up.

go with something easy to take off when you return your car, here is a suggestion:

putting mods on may be fun for some, but I don't think anyone like taking them off, esp coil over and such, a lot of works (and money) just to take them off.

Tints and thats about it. If you got extra money you can also get rims but I wouldn't do anything past that.

If your gonna spend the money on mods, why not just anti up a little more cash for you monthly payment and go with a 2010 335i e92. MY2011 will be out soon and you should be able to get some good deals on a 2010

Some people just like modding, so if the OP wants to mod, let the man mod. With that being said, I would suggest to the OP that because you know you'll be removing your mods at the end of the lease, try and stick to mods that you can easily remove yourself, so at least you won't end up paying labor costs.

Why mod something you don't even own? You are just renting a car. Do you ever wash your rental car?

Why get a bmw when any cheap car can get you from point A to point B?

Just saying, its a hobby to mod a car and if someone has the time and means to make a "rental" car look nice then so be it.

if you want to put money into the car... why not pay a little bit more and finance it?

Hahaha, very true. But do you seriously have a signature that pertains to this subject?

I don't know about modding a lease, it just doesn't really seem to make sense to me. I'd rather just buy a car that's a couple years old with 15,000 miles on it, make small payments (like the lease), and actually own (+mod) the car. Just me.

Try BMW select, the advantage of a low lease payment with the pride of ownership. Check it out online at bmwusa. It's actually looks really good.
