Exclamation another brake pad question for you track/daily guys

looking for people that have real word experience with brakes and not just hear say. I have been reading tons of threads about all different set of brakes.one thread will say they are great and the next will say they suck. here is what I'm looking for

2009 328i 6mt. I'm replacing all the brakes. I'm must likely keeping the stock rotors.

I'm looking for brakes that have way less dust than factory.
I'm starting to try out autocross events. maybe 5 times a years.
must me quiet. stock quiet. no noise.
so better braking than factory is better. not looking for lifetime brakes. I don't drive a lot for working. less than 100 miles a week for work.

Autocross only, or are you also considering road course HPDEs?

I use stoptech street pads for hpde. No squeal and they don't dust too bad. They don't have the initial bite of OEM and you need to get some heat into them before they really grab but I use them on the street and they work great for me. Everyone manages their brakes differently however so what works for me on the track might not necessarily work for others.

I'm thinking about Watkins Glen as my first event. and than the NJMP Lightning. I'm just a rookie and trying to learn. im in my 30s and use to drag race other cars but looking to learn to road race just as a hobby so I need god brakes for that and street driving. 90% street and a few track days mixed in.

If you would like to upgrade to 330i fronts, I have a nice set of Turner drilled rotors and 2 sets of Axis metal masters (60-70% left). This set up worked great for me, never experienced fade at the track. Rotors have a ton of meat left.

Only reason I changed was because I got a good deal on a set of 335i fronts.

I will be letting these go cheap. Let me know if interested.

+1 on the StopTech street pads. Not sure how much of a difference there is from M3 and 335i brake systems though. Done autox and road course. Bottom line, these pads perform. I also have StopTech Rotors and brake lines. This is a great setup for daily/tracking without going BBK. Brake dust is less than stock also.

The front calipers are actually the same on both cars and they use the same pads. I think the M3 has larger discs and the 335i rear calipers are a bit smaller. I have tracked both my M3 and 335i and the pads have worked well for me on both cars.

The 330i is a bit larger, thicker rotor with a larger swept area.

I've used several types of pads on a 2 different BMWs, and my personal conclusion is PFC01. I always had a lot of problems with pads overheating and vibrating until I got Performance Friction 01 (and 01 only, not even their 06 or 08 compounds). They now have 01 replacements. I forget if it's 11 or 13. I think the higher # the more aggressive.

That said, everyone's braking technique and habit is somewhat different. So I guess that's what explains why some people are okay with certain pads but some are not. For me, whatever the reason may be, nothing except PFC01 works. I can 'manage' some vibrations with certain other pads, but the question is "do you really want to worry about brakes at the track."

PFC is probably worst with the dust and noise. If you really want both low dust on street and high temp capacity on track, you really have to have 2 sets and swap them out every event. I compromise by just keeping the track pads on all the time. If you do this also, be warned that people stare.

Low dust pads are typically ceramic compound. When I had Cool Carbon S/T, they were pretty good with low dust and no noise. However they were atrocious at the track.

To me, there's no such thing as a "good compromise." It's rather "incapable-in-either."

what other pads have you tried? what were the good/bad of each? why do people stare with the PFC01?noisey?

I don't mind the dust any most. but noise will be an issue.

I have the caliper brackets too, its a bolt on job no different from any other brake job. Should take you about an hour or so if you typically do your own brakes.

Keep me posted
