OK, I've coded many cars, & have done many LCI tail retrofit coding (turn off cold/warm checks & error reporting).

On my own car, I was set up outside coding, & of course it started to rain, so I was in a hurry and may have inadvertently coded something 'nicht_aktiv' that should not have been, or forgot to code something...

Car is 09' 328iX (FRM2), has alarm & always had Welcome Lights function. When I unlock the car from FOB, alarm chirps, and welcome lights come On as before (AE's, front & rear parking lights) - after a time they go off as before - so all is fine with that.

But once I start the car, the AE's come On as DRL (as before), but now, my rear tailights also come On (the twin light pipes on inner & outer tails). So the rear tailights are On all the time when the car is running whether main switch is in Auto or any other setting. The headlights still work properly (Auto On when in auto & dark/On when in the On setting).

I'm quite sure the tailights weren't On all the time before, it's not a big thing - but there is no need for the rear tailights to be On all the time during the day.

Everything else about the tails work properly (Signals, Brake Lights, Reverse, etc.)


So what did I do (or not do) that makes the LED tailights ON all the time while the car is running, even during the day when switch is in Auto position?

For the life of me, I can't find it - I've gone over my FSW_PSW.MAN file from that coding session many times and can't see the forest for the trees

These lines are telling car to use rear tails as DRL also?

I know I didn't touch these lines - as I was turning any/all lines to 'nicht_aktiv'

So if I didn't change these lines, is it normal to have your tails ON as DRL along with AE's?

I never really paid attention to this before to be honest

Maybe if you did retrofit and another VO was added and then you recoded your module it was set as default. I don't know, but you can set these two parameters to nicht_aktiv and tailights will be removed.

glad u got it working!

If I am not mistaken you only need the one I listed...the other one for some reason shuts off the DRL for the front AE lights...Just use the one I listed and if thats not the one then use the other...Both nicht_aktiv will disable DRL all together..

Well, I didn't change the VO (nor have I in the past) - was only in NFRM to turn off the cold/warm bulb checks and the error reporting for anything tail related so there would be flickering upon startup or hyperflash turn signals.

I've done this prolly 10X on other cars.

Since I know I didn't touch those lines of code - I am assuming that my tails were set as DRL along with the AE's all the time and I just never noticed

Do most of you guys have the tails as DRL also? If so, I'll just leave it alone.

weird things.

I have pre-LCI so I have DRL with high beam set as 40% of power, and my taillights are off. I think it the main idea of DRL to have it without taillights.

I have mine turned on from factory. I turned it off once but liked the look better with them on as DRL

OK, guess my original tails were on as DRL from factory also - prolly didn't notice as much since I had them tinted a 'light smoke' - with the LCI's I would never tint as they are beautiful just the way they are...

Mebbe I'll just leave them on as DRL also
