It looks like it obstructs the oil cap, again. i will wait for the BMW OEM one that clears the problem. |

it does block the oil cap. but how often do you need to open the oil cap. The center part of the dinan brace is removable

I realize that most will not change the oil for over 5K miles. But I plan on doing it once or twice in between the scheduled BMW changes. And since I will not be doing it myself, I do not want to have a tech responsible for removing it and rpelacing it properly each time, when he might only be trained for oil changes.

I understand your point spazdoc (BTW: any relation to stressdoc?)...anyway...
I understand your point, but a stress bar is best designed as a straight one. Bent strut bars, by the laws of physics, are not as strong as comparably sized straight strut bars. From the RE site: What to look for in a strut tower brace? When looking at a strut tower brace to give you the most benefit, it should have the following features: Sufficient protection of the strut tower top (to prevent "mushrooming") No pivots or heim-style joints to allow the bar to flex or bend, but adjustable, to allow for intention suspension changes. Center bar with no bends or kinks (straighter is stiffer!) Provide adequate underhood clearance (so not to dimple the hood) Allow for suspension changes (for those that frequent the track) Made from the best materials available (for lightweight, coefficient of thermal expansion) Even BMW applied many of these traits to their own strut tower braces when they offered them. For the E36 and E46 models, both used cast aluminum strut tower plates and matched them to tubular steel center bars.
