Pre-03/07 LCI iDrive Controller Retrofit

Done a search but everyone keeps saying no to the pre-03/07 vehicles wanting the LCI CIC Controller retrofit. Has anyone who is pre-03/07 been able to do this retrofit successfully? If so, what steps did you have to go through? I want to get this done and I know there is a way...

I have used the search button and I know the older idrive 06 cars have the 2 buttons on their idrive controller with no rubber on the rides of the "mouse", the 07+ have the rubber sides and only one "menu" button... are these considered upgradeable?

Please share your experiences!!!

Hey.

its definitely possible.
I have an 01/06 e91 with idrive ccc and the cic controller retrofitted.
The controller just needs to be coded "low" and you need the latest software on your idrive system. plugs are the same and it works perfect.
Of course you need a different console because of the shape of the controller.

What exactly do you mean by coded "low"?

Yes you can! Here's my 05/07 E92 with the updated controller. Complete plug-n-play, no coding required.

So you just purchase the controller and new console?
Remove old controller. Installer new controller. Install new console.
Thats it?

Will be doing this soon!

Yes, but there's a Bracket that holds the Controller onto the Center Console Trim piece. You can see the thin black edge of the Bracket in the picture above between the Controller buttons and Trim. It's only about $5, bu you can't do without it!

I got all my parts from Tischer BMW www.getbmwparts.com
