320d e90 vs 530i e60 mileage
G'day everyone- hope all are well.
Been a BMW fanatic for sometime now- had the E92 335i few years back, started a family then naturally got rid of it and picked up a E60 530i. I can't say that I have any complaints with it however- I'm looking to possibly 'downgrade' a series and perhaps get the E90 320d. Two reasons: 1. I miss the 3 series lol. 2. More importantly Im after a car that is more economical (i.e. currently getting on avg. 560-570km on fully tank on 530i therefore i would like to get a vehicle with more kms/100l). Guys can I please get your opinions on the pros and cons of making such a move- particularly where I have heard the obvious which is 1. More maintenance costs involved in 'diesel' engines. 2. Diesel engines play up more? etc.. I would particularly be grateful of any 320d owners who would be kind enough to shed any light on the above and more so what mileage they are getting per fuel tank. Many many thanks Jas

basically, don't expect the "d" to be faster than your 335...
but seriously, it is loads of fun with this ridiculous baby diesel.. As for fuel efficiency...my 320d without mod is running 6.8 combined and with mod(response enhance, pot intake) 7.5 combined..so basically with the recent price in VIC, i'm running ~80 a tank with 700~800 kms just my experience, hope this will help you out

I really wanted a 330D or A4 3.0TDI when i was looking for my car, but the 330d was way out of my price range! still thinking of one for my next car if I stay with the Exx model.

Yep E90 is indeed what I'm looking to get. A big big thank you to you all for your insights- truly appreciated. And massive thanks to 'JB4135' , awesome job with the pic and nice ride. Any further comments would be appreciated once again. Cheers

Been waiting for this post whole my life. To jas888: Just passed my one year anniversary few days ago. Stock 320D 09 gives me 700km per tank pure city drive. Pure highway =1100km. Mix=850km. Every fuel up around 55Litre (BP only) cost around $75. Con turbo lag compare to NA where its instant. Clutter sound Diesel farts if you have dpf off like kitan ^^" Low Revv, redline 5.5? Every assume diesel is slow! Pro fuel efficient Torque much.. Very easy to tune or chip and 2.0Litre has proven to beat some 3Litres. Dark horse Great value for money compare to A4 tdi or C200 cdi.
