Thank god for warranty!

Car (330d) went in for its MOT last week which it passed with flying colours. However, the dealership pointed out an oil leak and offered to book in this week to sort it. So it went in today and ended up needing intercooler pipe, new inlet manifold etc. would have cost me best part of £700 just before Christmas! Thankfully I negotiated a 2 year warranty when I bought the car earlier this year. So total cost to me today was £0.00!

AUC warranty thank you!

Did they tell you why the car needed these parts?

Yes, they said that the oil seals within the manifold were not available separately and therefore had to replace the entire set up? Do you think that's reasonable?Perhaps they were taking advantage of a warranty job?

It'll be the oil seals on the swirl flaps leaking. According to a number of people I've spoken to, "officially" you can't buy the swirl flaps on their own, hence needing a whole new inlet manifold which houses them. As you say, it was a warranty job so happy days.

What he said. They have changed your old manifold to new one with cartridge type swirl flaps.

I used blanking plates on my 2008 330d and it made the car much smoother and better power delivery on higher revs.
