Damn.. I finally read through all 14 pages, plus the other 2 that were linked and watched all the videos. lol

I'm gonna go out and find a 7/32" ball bearing, do this mod, and then report back once I'm done.

Wish me luck!

does the ball bearing mod, if reversed, leave any evidence that there has been something in the tube? i ask since my car is leased and i don't want bmw to say i caused some problems (knock on wood) by doing this, hence, voiding any part of my warranty.

Yea, but I heard the ECU will log a code due to lack of power draw on the cable.

Its been discussed a billion times. Doing it this way will leave stored codes in the ECU

Doing it this way leaves no trace at all that it was done to the car. My car is leased as are many others out there that have this done. This is the least worrysome mod to do to your car.

Story related to this: I park in a garage at work and when leaving one evening, one of the higher-ups saw my car and stood by it, checking it out and waiting for me to start it. I fired it up and it gave it's trumpety "golf tee snort." He smiles and asks me to lower the window then says "Is that the stock exhaust on that thing!?" Yep! I said.

You know the gas cap not tighten give u an emission error too.....
can anyone further confirm this? you guys say that 7/32 bearing ball is the size but is not reversable...

Why would it not be reversable?

the guy said no matter how he massaged it he couldn't get the ball out. so ultimately he had to cut the wire. its in one of these pages lol.

im eager to get this done and remove whatever the guy of my ss installer used and hopefully this will fix the problem.

Which is why I put some type of lube on the BB. Makes it easier to install or remove.

KY warming lube.

But really, any type of greasy(preferably not liquid) squeezy tube lube will work. The one I grabbed out of my tool cabinet was called "super lube". It had the consistancy of petroleum jelly.

Vaseline would probably work just as well, didnt have any of that on hand though(no pun intended).

I just put the bb into the end of the tube, then I pushed it against the stem it originally came off. The stem pushes the bb inside as far as it needs to go.

I used good old fashioned spit to lube up the ball bearing....

I also wouldn't even bother taking it out (if my car was a lease needing returned)...

Twist and pull at same time. If you still have trouble, just get a flathead screwdriver and twist it a bit back and forth at the base of the hose to get it started.
