E92 LCI Tail and black line tail kits?
Anyone know where to order the new E92 LCI tail lights?
They come in a normal and a blackline BMW Performace option which is what I want. |

You can order the '11 tail lights from any BMW dealer. Tischer sells them for cheap, and LTBMW in Socal has an installation deal going on.
The Black-Lines aren't out yet, however. Whichever one you choose, I would wait for BMW to release a retrofit harness, though, as the new ones throw a code and require the use of resistors.

im waiting to see what the blacklines are going to look like. I'v got a SG so if they look anything like the ones on the F10, you can be sure ill be the first to have them.

The optional lights on the F10 are White-Lines, so you can assume that the E92 Black-Lines will look different.

Amber taillights are available in Europe, but I haven't been able to find any part numbers. Someone on this forum from Greece ordered a set and took pics, but he hasn't posted PNs yet.
Black Lines (Euro or US) are not out yet. I reached out to Eric Riehle from BMW Performance, and he said he'll have some info on their availability next week. In the meantime, you can read BMW's official description of them here: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...er/finder.html Type "lights" into the search field and look at the fourth one down. I'm not sure if that's the actual picture of the Black Lines. If it is, then the difference between it and the standard taillights is pretty subtle. Stay tuned...

After coding - everything works as normal - no flickering or error indicators on the dash. If the Black Lines are also LED-based, coding via the retrofit path will be required.

Yup, these have been cancelled. I'm bummed, because I was waiting on them. I ended up buying a set of Euro LCI lights instead.

LED tails
I installed the reuglar LCI lights purchased from EAS for my E92. Sweet upgrade, but ended up being more expensive than I thought because the '08-09s require a new footwell module at an extra ~$400.

Looks great. I was going to do the same, until I found out about the FRM3 for proper coding. At this point, I am not sure IF I like the LCI ones much more than the pre-LCI ones to pay that extra $350 or so for the FRM3.

i have the lci tails without the coding and they function perfectly fine... the fast blinking doesn't bother me that much, the flickering at startup isn't a big deal because i'll never even see it, and the bulb out doesn't bother me either... so the bulb out code and fast blinking doesn't bother me enough to shell out over $400 to fix...
and IMO they look 100000 times better than pre-lci tails

wow, an extra ~$400 for coding?? thats insane. Definitely can't see myself shelling out close to 1k for updated tail lights, although I did see the LCI on the street the other day and kept drooling.

"I don't like load equalizers for a few reasons: Load equalizers run at extremely high temperatures (300F+). Having trunk insulation or other wiring is instant death for your M3 - especially with little to no ventilation. We've also seen a number of e46 LCMs damaged from use, I would only expect the same in a matter of time on the newer models, which are much more sensitive to voltage changes. These are also a favorite on replica taillamps from China. A quick search on the e46 forums will only show how many failures were experienced. While going the resistor route might be cheap at first, it will eventually cost more in the long run. Coding is the proper way to solve the issue." That being said, I had them in my E46 for 3 years with no issues. I decided to do it with the factory approach this time.
