Cheers Scootah

nah I left them in position. Basically you don't want to get too much paint on the rotor surface.

What I do is take care by minimising the amount of overspray on the rotor then once I have finished sprayed the rotor caliper etc I have a rag doused in thinners and I carefully wipe the rotor face clean.

It doesn't matter if it isn't 100% clean as the 1st time you go to brake the brake pads wipe the rotor clean anyway (obviously you don't want paint gunk built up on the pads though hence try to keep the paint overspray to a minimum)

It's possible to mask the rotor, but since I'm a fussy bastard I also sprayed the cooling vanes of the rotor and to do so I had to spin the rotor by hand.

If it was masked I wouldnt be able to spin the rotor to spray the vanes, and the rotor hub.

P.S scootah as I'm sure you would, use a heap of newspaper to mask off your wheel wells, front guards etc from overspray.

Hey mate, did you remove the anti rattle clips from the calipers before painting?

Also, with the hubs how did you mask that off from the rotor surface?

Nope, I didnt mask the rotor surface at all.

All you have to do is carefully avoid overspray on the rotor braking surface and its unavoidable some overspray will be applied, just wipe down the rotor braking surface with a rag doused in thinners to remove most of it.

It doesn't matter if some paint is left remaining as the 1st few times you apply the brakes whilst driving it gets ripped off anyway, but as I stated in a previous post you don't want a heap of caked on paint building up on the brake pads but a small amount wont hurt,

Well I picked up my Goodyear F1's today, I shall get them fitted during the next few days

I have purchased some bling items:

Activeautowerks chargepipe & BOV

I have never owned a turboed car before so I need to get this BOV thing out of my system, oh and errm it shall prolong turbo life by minimising compressor surge.... Also apparently once tuned the oem pipe can come loose!

An 'e92 lighting' full LED interior kit:

mtec rear plate LED's

A new M3 wheel (I prefer the non perforated look)

perforated m wheel

The only thing left on my immediate shopping list is a FMIC & forge diverter valves. KW V3's can wait until next year

Nice shopping list there mate!!!

If you've got the BOV, you don't need the DV's anymore. Personally, i went with an ER pipe with Forge DV's to keep the fully sickness to a minimal.

How much are those LED interior kits? The kit's installation looks rather straight forward do you mind posting your thoughts on it after you have it installed?

Got the exact same kit in mine. Install is pretty easy, except not really happy with how the dome lights look as you can actually see the LED panel lights through the frosted cover as opposed to the whole thing kind of just 'glowing'

not sure if that makes sense... lol. maybe I'm just too picky...

Well I mounted the new M3 tiller last night, and after a few setbacks initially as I couldnt work out how to release the airbag following the DIY on here, I researched a bit more and found another thread which displayed where I was going wrong (I couldnt find any holes in the wheel hub)

These pics display it quite well:

v's in the DIY

I was sticking the screwdriver in behind the steering wheel trim, turns out there is two 'flap' type openings in the hub of the steering wheel.

Old:

Minus the airbag (those airbags are bloody really heavy!)

And the new tiller mounted:

On another note I think I'm going to go ahead and purchase a set of brand new bmw performance 313 rims:

http://www.bmrautowerkes.com.au/prod...to[655]/0/

What they shall look like mounted:
