Air Intake Charcoal Filter
Does anyone know why BMW chose to add a charcoal filter to the engine air intake? I'd assume it's located after the air filter since it's not replacable.
I can understand having it on the cabin air filter, but have no idea why it would be added in addition to an engine air filter. |

It prevents harmful emissions from escaping the engine when your car is off.
