oil change reset works but immediate change required!?

So this is strange. I can successfully reset for an oil change. But then when I drive it and start back up it tells me I'm overdue by the number of miles I just drove!! So I just reset for an oil change then I drove 50 miles and its telling me I'm overdue by 50 miles. Any ideas?

FYI, I have 245K miles and runs like the day it was new....what a great car.

It's programmed to do that. After 186,000 miles, the CBS OCI system is programmed to go defunct. The only fix I'd to program it out and do oil changes on a set schedule.

That is strange because I change the oil every 7500 miles and it just now started doing that. What would explain the gap between 186K and where I'm at now with 245K?

That is the way it is programmed to drop out of using the oil condition data from the oil level sensor. You reset the system early before the CBS triggers the change notification, which is why it took until 245K to show up.

The only solution is to code out the oil monitor. Lots of info on E90 Post about it.
