windshield replacement in seattle?
Has anyone had a windshield replaced in seattle? Can you recommend (or warn against) a place to have it done.
Two big chips/cracks so I'm not going to be able patch this one. thanks, Justin |

My buddy owns http://www.cartechautoglass.com/ they can hook you up, they are out of Edmonds but they can usually have you meet them at whatever dealership they are at and get it done quick. There are alot of hacks out there so be careful.

My windshield recently got chipped too and I've been looking around as well. Has anyone had experience at that little "Free Rock Chip Repair" stand in the Southcenter Mall parking lot?

They are not really "free". They charge your insurance company for it.

I would call your insurance. Or take it to BMW. You want to get OEM glass, not aftermarket glass. Don't go to Safelite. Have heard many stories about shitty glass installs.

Car-tech auto glass mentioned above quoted me $455 (with a possible additional $124 if they need to use a new rain sensor.) Do you guys still think I should go with OEM glass with that price difference? I'm sure the OEM is better, but how much better, especially since I'm looking to trade the car in soon. thanks, Justin |

It depends. Sometimes dealerships can reduce the value of your trade it because its not OEM glass. OEM glass has a lot of strength and is a a big part of the structure. Most of the time non-OEM glass is cheaper because it doesn't have as much strength and weakens the structure of your car.
This is what my body shop people told me once when I was curious about non-OEM glass and OEM glass. |
