SLK 55 MPG
Fancied a drive out today so went to visit Andy (Palmball) in Loughborough, this was a round trip of 228 miles.
Set the cruise at 70 mph and over the entire 4 hour journey averaged 31.1mpg Pretty impressive for a 5.5 litre V8 Oh and the 911 Turbo is very impressive, not just the acceleration which is stunning but the handling which is incredible. Looking forward to seeing the Maserati. |

It feels nice to get great mpg out of a powerful car and just shows how stop start motoring ruins fuel consumpion. How are you finding the AMG? It's your weekend fun car from memory and as we have said before you see so few around. Whilst driving lately I have been looking out for large engine cars and even though I live in the South East they are few and far between. I followed a dark blue 10 plate Jag XKR today, V. nice.

Hope to make the next Goodwood Breakfast club meet as it's soft top Sunday. I am sold on the whole AMG brand and hope to keep the SLK for a few years yet. |

I think that's the same lump that was in my CL55. I never bettered 23mpg. Perhaps I need lighter footwear.
Best I have got from the C63 on a journey to Stratford driving very sensibly was 22. Single figures are achievable when "going for it".

Impressive John and no need to feel embarrassed, it's a beast of a car.
I had to a trip down to Warwickshire today with my little girl in the back and my mrs i never drive quick with them. Don't get to take my car on the m-way much so was surprised to find 47mpg on the trip menu after the round trip. Equally impressive i think, especially as i was just driving normally. Hopefully will see all this nice machinery again soon. |

I'm surprised you made it back so quickly Jon given you drive like a little old lady (hence the MPG!).
Glad you liked the Porsche and hope you can see that me selling it is only the right thing to do for my health and freedom. You'll like the Maserati better and it won't make you feel sick (because it's too slow) |

They can do it - but what a boring drive!!! - Can get 30 out of mine when driving on cruise at 70. That said - yours has an extra litre!
