Talking Magnaflow exhaust install question

So I installed the magnaflow 16537 catback for my 2008 328i today. The directions say to block off a redundant vacuum hose by screwing a 6mm bolt into it and using zip ties.

http://www.autopartsnetwork.com/imag...sset/16537.pdf

During the installation process I did not see a vacuum hose anywhere. Is this a mistake in the directions? Or where might I find this mysterious hose? Thanks.

No vacuum hose on my car when I did a muffler delete. Maybe the 325i and 328i are different in that aspect?

I think that's for the 330i only, the 330i and 335 have vacuum operated a valve on the muffler.

Not sure what it does, but by plugging it you'd be doing the "golf tee mod"

Makes it quiet on startup, warms up faster

Thanks guys. There wasn't a hose on the old muffler, so yeah, those directions must be for another car. That does sound just like the golf-tee mod.

I didn't get time to make video today, but I'll make one soon. I couldn't find one anywhere prior to purchasing the exhaust, so I was taking a chance. It has a nice deep note, but not nearly as loud as I would have liked it to be at WOT. Definitely an improvement over the stock exhaust.

Yeah, a bit more back pressure on cold start keeps the gases in for a bit longer and warms the cats up faster (for emissions stuff)

yeah, golf tee mod makes it REALLY crackly and loud for me on cold start, it's awesome

apparently when warm there's meant to be no difference, it's pretty smooth when warm anyway
