Are steering wheel controls still functional? Do you maintain the ability for BMW dealership to interface with the car OR do you have to mount the factory radio in the trunk?

SW controls work fine, dont know about the dealer interface/coding with these new canbus boxes..... After the initial install work is done, it only takes a minute (literally) to pull it out, so if it ends up being a problem I can always just swap it out, have the dealer do their thing, then swap it back

I have never even had an issue with the dealer with my D90 that throws a code for the SOS system. Seeing those pics makes me want a D99 so bad, they look like they are a ton better.

same here. It looks great. If all the past issues are solved this is going to be the ultimate solution to no idrive.

Negative. Thats the one downfall that people are saying is that it doesnt support sat radio. But with Android and Pandora i feel its not THAT huge of a deal, for me at least.

So if you have factory bluetooth, how do you go about installing this thing?

Mapleridge tried one like said, but if you can get people who will commit i am willing to bet they would be up for it again. Trent is a real good guy.

holy...their was intro pricing a week or so ago. It was $8xx ball park. Now it is for $949 or something on their site....

I agree Trent is super easy to work with. I recommend someone take it up with him. FYI the format is to get at least 5 people for the first discount. 10 people for the second discount. When you get 5 he will want a 50% deposit via paypal. The balance is paid when they hit the warehouse. I have to finish the many projects I have on the go so I won't be in at this time. email him @ sales@caraudiocraze.com

Yes i am sure if i you email him you can get some pricing on the different buy-in levels, then you can proceed. I would try crossposting to other bimmer forums and stuff for maybe a better turnout rate.

good suggestion. You should definitely post in other forums. Maybe Trent would accept including other models like e36. That might make it easier. All I did was post in the Canada sub forum and here. Even regional sub forums would be a good idea. If I remember correctly he was offering like $30 off and free shipping for 5 units. He said he would talk further if we got 10.

Jeff on E46fanatics did a write up on it.

It is a better unit over our D90s but I don't think it's enough to warrant swapping out. Maybe a D100 is coming?

The bluetooth is supposedly better on the D99, which is a big deal to me, but Jeff said it functions the "same", which makes me believe there are issues where you can stream bluetooth and have the "nav side" show at the same time.

The main differences seem to be:

*Parrot Bluetooth chip (with real address support now)
*Better iPod screen, better controls, still not great access if you have a deep library (album art seems to be supported which is great)
*Better visuals on the main screen with large icons for quicker and safer source changes

hmm...given all that don't know if its a $950 unit. I love how stock it looks and retaining the steering controls but i don't use navigation that often and my trips are quite short..maybe in the future. What would a d100 look like?

I really want to get this but the more I look at it the more I've become undecided... imo I just think the screen is just too low for me. I liked how the navi in bmws is at eye level and makes it easier to keep your eye on the road while the screen on the dynavin is a whole lot lower which makes it dangerous to operate or use navigation. I was thinking about maybe customizing one and cutting a hole in the dash right above the air vents and installing one of those navi with the pop out screens, but I'm pretty sure it's going to cost a lot. decisions decisions....

It's safer than using a cellphone navi on your lap so there you go. If you want oem navi, should've got a car with one.

that's just stupid...you might as well tell companies that make gps software that's voice-based with no pictures..
