Arranged for someone to view a car I'm selling.

10am Saturday morning.
Gave it 45 mins still nothing
Text and said are you still viewing at 10:50am
No reply
Called at 11am and left a voice mail to check
11:45 still nothing

They were travelling 50 miles so assumed not turning up. Can't wait all day, left text, voice msg. Could have taken my little one out, but waisted time!



Anyone else have this?

Thats pretty much normal when selling a car, some people can't seem to be able to get off the phone without saying they will come to view.

even a text without apologising saying "not coming" would have been better rather than waist time hanging around

5 mins of conversation, no new information gleaned....Time wasted.

Infact I remember selling a Polo 1.4 16v 100bhp (brilliant car) to a guy for his son, we agreed £2850 over the phone, down from £3200 and they said they would be there at 12pm the following day.

They phoned at 12 and they were running late
They phoned at 2 and asked if i could bring the car to Leicester?
They phoned at 4 and said they were on their way.
The arrived at 6 (!) and the son said he was only prepared to offer £2600. I told them to go back home.

Sometimes I hate selling cars.

sound's like the bloke's who tried to buy my e30 325i sport year's ago agreed the price over the phone which was lower than i wanted

anyway on their way down from luton 2hrs max every 2hrs a phone call we are lost,stuck in traffic,can't find it etc anyway waited 7 hrs for these joker's

when they turn up 1 under the bonnet, 1in the boot, 1 in each door

the 1 under the bonnet let's off the rad cap a littie in front me, mate, mate this motor f@@ked water is coming out look, he was told to pee off

then the money came out, started at 500 lower than the price we had agreed then in the end up to the agreed price

to which i told them your not buying my car ,

them , but we have the money

no i won't sell to you it's my car and your not having it bye


and drove off with them all staring at each other in amazement

sold the car 3 day's later for 300 more anyway

The worst thing was that the Dr (dad) kept saying we should give him 'extra discount' because we were both from the same place. Not that we were. They actually reminded me of shopping in Pakistan with all the negotiation and the mind games.

I'll happily negotiate, I dont get offended by itand it's nice having a banter and giving/getting a deal - but I do draw he line at agreeing a price and then trying to pay less when the cash comes out, its scum behaviour.

It was just so tiring.....

I fully understand this.

Selling a car at the moment which I can afford to keep at no extra expense to myself. I just end up putting the phone down as soon as they mention money off, chumps, if they're haggling over the phone for a car they haven't viewed they're not wasting my evenings on a test drive.
