Help! 328i ticking noise (video included)

Hi guys, I have this ticking noise and was not sure if it is normal or not. I can only hear it when my windows are opened and at a stand still. Is this the metallic ticking issue that a lot of people are unhappy about? Thanks

That's sounds way too low in frequency to be the lifters. Does it increase with rpm's?

Yeah that's not the usual "ticking" people complain about. I'd get that checked out.

anyone else have this problem? This is not the lifters! Dealership said other 328i does this as well. I am not completely sold to that.

Exclamation

That noise doesn't sound too good. Take her in to the dealer.

The "usual" ticking almost everyone is referring to is this one (see attached file).

Did anyone figure out what the problem was and what the solution is?

Did anyone figure out what the problem was and what the solution is?

I have the exact same ticking noise on the driver's side front wheel area of a e93.

Please help me figure this out.

Thanks,

Hey guys,

Not sure if this will help or if this is the answer. I had similar noise but looped faster a while ago, after a check at the dealer this is what the service records say. Me: "Customer says there is a tapping noise coming from engine area when car sits for a while".
After service: "Completed SIB 11 09 07, removed and replaced exhaust camshaft hydraulic valve lifters due to bleeding out causing noise on cold start".

Hope this helps.

I don't know if its different from the usual tick. That is how mine has always ticked, before and after the HVL were replaced, and that sound was what led to the replacement. So, this is interesting to me. But who knows, honestly, I just don't care anymore. All of my cars have made odd noises, and I think I am just more obsessed with the damn BMW so I hear things more...I bought an extended warranty, so until something explodes, I'll just drive the shit out of the thing..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OP9vz...ature=youtu.beI just got a 2009 328i and under the left driver side near the tire it makes and odd clicking noise that can only be heard when near the tire. I have done much research and this thread is the best I have found, is it common with these cars or should I take it in? I have 51 miles left on the factory warranty, but if it's normal I have extended warranty and I will just drive it until something blows.

read the sticky at the top of the page

This one
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13504
only 328 325 330 only.

If you are under CPO get it taken car of .
They will first replace the lifters if that doesn't solve it you get
a redesigned head with better oil flow.

Read the sticky for details.

It's strange that the dealer told you it's "normal", because it's not..
