Bmw Comp Warranty - Advice Please
Hey guys,
I'm actively looking for a 335i and I will find one soon, I hope. I was thinking about taking BMW's comp warranty for piece of mind. I've got quotes for both sides of 60k, so I know what the numbers roughly look like Anyone have experience of this product, both positive and negative? Is it like any old warranty that they always get out of. Example: a few years back my M3's vanos unit went pop not long after buying it. The warranty company (RAC I think) said the lack of oil was the cause. But the lack of oil was because the Vanos went, ejecting all the oil. i.e one failure led to another failure which led to another etc etc. Advice most welcome Thanks |

I had this warranty for my 335i.
I had everything fixed with no quibbles. Seatbelt butler handover thing broke - fixed pre-cat O2 sensor replaced sump gasket leaked - replaced even though it says gaskets aren't covered |

It's a fully comp BMW warranty. I've made several claims and all sorted without question.
If you buy a car just under 60k take the monthly option as it's a rolling fixed price. If you pay up front they will kick you in the nuts when renewal comes around and you are + 60k. You may have read my post from yesterday? Highly recommended warranty. Jon |

I've had several bits fixed on mine now under the comp warranty:
iDrive computer due to disc read errors. Waterpump - failed a couple of weekends ago. Seatbelt butler - fixed under than same claim as the \iDrive - it's generally around £30 for the part to fix it so as I have a £100 excess it was only worth doing at the same time as something else. They will always warn you that there is a chargeable diagnostics fee before looking at the car. This covers them in case whatever they find isn't covered under warranty. I have never actually paid this diags fee and everything has been covered. They tried telling me that the iDrive fault wouldn't be covered as it was a pre-existing fault (I guess their logs showed it had been happening for a while), but when I told them that I'd not long bought the car they were a bit more lenient and approved the claim it anyway. Generally they are really good, but they seem to be getting a bit stricter than they were a few years ago. Essentially you want to make sure that you give them no excuses to refuse a claim, such as incomplete service history or mods left on the car when you take it in.
