JB + ---> question
I have a very basic question.. Will adding a JB+ to my car at default setting trip any codes? ive read on here that its highly unlikely for the most part, but anyone hear of anything that would contradict that argument? about to pick one up, but my warranty is way more important. Just want a simple upgrade to give me more juice and dont wanna have to (buy a CAN or BT Basic tool to) check it everytime before i bring it in for service. One other thing - will adding a Dual Cone Intake do anything to my warranty ? Would i have to take them out every time i go for service like the JB+ ? Just getting into upgrades now so please excuse my lack of knowledge on the overall subject. \ Thanks |

Most likely no but there's always a possibility so invest in a BT or can tool, don't be cheap and not buy one cause you'll be worried if you do throw a code.
Take mods off if you value your warranty. |

Just to add to what EDubs was asking. What if you put a JB+ on...then drive it like you stole it, then take it off before service. If it throws a code, you just play DUMB and ask them, "Okay, so what's that mean?" If you don't admit to having made the mod, how can they tell what threw the code?

i think it depends on which software you have, because i ran the jb+ and i got the same codes on 50% and 100%, so i got codes on the default setting, that doesnt mean you will. i highly recommend a BT scan tool. btw, do the solenoid bypass and put the jb+ to 75% and the car will be very very fast.

Ran a JB+ at 50% and 75% for a couple of months. No codes thrown and I rode it pretty hard.
For some reason, the car felt a lot better after I took it off. Yes, not as much thrust and sound from the turbos, but the boost felt better for some reason. IMO, JB4 or nothing! |

the solenoid bypass is very easy to do. there is an instruction guide on how to do it on burger tunings website. i believe its page 12 or 13 in the JB2 install guide. it allows boost to build earlier and hold it all the way to the shift.

i'm happy with my bt tool. would definitely recommend one if you decide to jb+ or other tune. price of jb+ and scan tool is still very affordable considering the gains and ease of use. well, it's cheaper than potentially getting your warranty voided.
you might want to do some research yourself in the technical section if you're not sure of anything. i'm sure there's a thread in existence for any question you have right now. of course you can just blindly trust what people tell you in this thread without validation. oh yeah, lowering jb+ settings just makes it less likely to throw a code. i've heard of jb+ throwing code below 50%. i've also heard of people running 100% for over a year without code. lots of factors come into play; including temperature, elevation, your driving style and just plain luck. |

I just purchased the JB2 Pinout (N54 Stage 1). I know it's not the best one but I am only looking for a little extra boost. How do you set it to 50%-90%? I was under the impression it only had one setting? |

The intake will not VOID warranty. buttt it will cause you some issues at some dealerships. The JB threw codes for me at 50 percent but most people dont get em. You have a BMW, which means u spent some good money on it unless u stole it. so i seriousely advise you to get a bt tool or can tool even if u DONT have the JB. In my opinion it is a MUST. |

Holy old thread. The JB2 is not the same as a JB+ There is no dial with which to set a JB2.

I would personally get one of the tools to read/delete codes ect... If I didnt have a JB4!Thats one thing I love about my JB4 is I can hook it up to my laptop and know EVERYTHING that is going on with my car and how I can adjust things such as fuel/boost and so on If you really think about it, the JB4 has a built in scan tool in it plus a TON more features!
