Insecure much? I'm pretty sure this thread gets the attention it has gotten is in the title. Any thread on an enthusiast website with a strongly worded negative opinion of the car in question is bound to draw attention.

I think you need to seek help for those mommy issues.

If you mean the intermediate shaft bearing failure -- it's the early waterpumpers, not just Boxsters but 996s 1999-2003, too. It's apparently a random failure with a very high frequency, and happens to low mileage garage queens as well. And no, Porsche has never stepped up to the plate with this obvious design flaw.

Almost all the cars that warm the cockles of my heart are/were built within 350 miles of the Alps. But I don't think any of them are cheap to maintain.

The most popular automobile model in the History of Mankind is the Toyota Corolla. There are reasons for that. If you want low operating costs buy a Corolla. If you want something that's fun to drive, then buy a Porsche. But don't expect it to be cheap to run.

I think you should demand a refund from the community college where you took that remedial English class.

I think you should chill out. You sound pretty hostile over my omitting a word from a sentence hastily tapped out on an iPhone. And that a female poster got a bunch of hits on a legit thread. I think by attempting to make others look/feel bad, you're actually pegging yourself.

Just go for a drive, think happy thoughts. And keep the hostility to yourself.

But seriously, I'm happy with my 09 335xi, id be willing to put up with repair costs to drive a machine that is such a step up from my previous car (1.8t VW) which also had its fair share of issues. FI FTW, don't forget to put things in perspective here, nobody is forcing you to keep this car, if you can't deal with it, sell it and move to something else, just don't be upset if it wont put a smile on your face

+1

I researched and researched, but based on this forum an other I chose a 328xi over 335xi. There were plenty of 335's for the price I paid for my 328 If I was buying new, I would certainly buy a 335, but you just can't go used without an extended warranty or CPO. It was not worth it to me.

You have to buy this car and love it more than the problems it will give you, and be armed with your favorite indy. If you mod your car, problems will develop earlier, so you must be prepared to weigh out JB4? or should I save that 500 dollars for future maintenance? Especially when the car is not rock solid reliable.

was it a BMW dealer you bought the car from?
What he said...most dealers have at least the basic 30 day warranty for major stuff.. I would bring it back to them..at least to go 50/50

Valley pan gasket leak? I heard that BMW charges around that for that job. (design flaw) for this in the V8's and most indy's worked out a cheaper better solution.

Depends on the year.. BMW owned them for while

I had a 03 range rover HSE..basically the 4.4 X5. I had no issues, but they were plagued with issues with costs that would make range rover owners laugh at our "minor" expenses. I know up to 2009 there are super unreliable..
no clue now that tata owns them but hear nothing but good things about the newer ones..

Heh I had a Disco from that year too. Once I removed SLS, that got rid of a lot of the worry I had. I didn't have any of the other problems people were regularly reporting either. It's weird; that was the most reliable car I've owned until recently.

The RRs though.... I don't know how many I saw cruising down the street with the saggy diaper look or the chin to the pavement look.... Such amazing cars when working though. LR makes good shit, always has, you just have to expect it to break. A lot.

I'm also not sure about how they're doing since Tata acquired them. I know up until very recently, they still sucked at reliability.

Your best bet is indy shop... even dealer will give you 10-20% discount. Just call around.

They have been for a while. Since around 2005ish. Part of why I was comfortable buying a Cayman. Wondering where this will go post-VW buyout.

yeah, when buying that was a selling point..air suspension switch to coils...lol
I had no issues though..sold after two years before issues would crop up. air suspension/ front diff. It did leak coolant from the expansion tank..same issue I now have with my 4.4 x5

Wow, I have GOT to make an account with a cute girl pic- talk about getting your questions answered.

I think BMW's are reserved for those wealthy enough to pay for the repairs, or those crafty enough to do them themselves- me being the latter for the most part....

Good luck op!
