questions for those who retrofit Navi system

After retrofit navi system on non-navi system, is it possible to get after service and problem fixing in the future at Official BMW dealer like the car had already equipped with navi system?

Yes, providing you wired it into the JBE and other locations like the factory system was installed. You could just tap into the bus and power and make it all work, but doing so will create erroneous fault codes that won't make sense if trying to diagnose the i-drive. Every other system on the car is not affected.

the dealer can work on your car with no issues ... except if a software update is required, this is the only area where I have had issues because according tommy dealer, the shop foreman, the car downloads the update from a server in Germany and it cross-references the build sheet assigned to your VIN to check what is in your car's VO, which is modified when you go from non-idrive to i-drive

So even if you change the VO it cant update on the computer? Even if you go to a CCC? I have a 2008 m3 without nav and thinking about getting CCC instead of a CIC so i dont have problems with updates. If this is the car that i will have problems with updates then i might not do it altogether!

I have not personally done it, but from my understanding, the car is programmed based on the VO... so if your VO reflects that you have the CCC (and related parts with the correct part numbers for the car), the dealer's system should update all modules in the car, including the CCC. It is correct that the build sheet at the factory and the VO won't match, but that is the case in any retrofit (factory authorized or not.)

Can i swap a CCC from a e90 m3 to a e92 m3? I mean take their CCC, Dash and even their harness? If i take their harness will i need to create a new one like you did or can i just take theirs? They are turning their E90 into a race car so all parts can be had.

Suggestions Booster?

Yes, you should be able to do the swap without an issue.

The harness won't work, as it (as I found out the hard way) is part of the car, not integral to the dash. So you will still have to make a CID and controller harness, but those are easy. If you are comfortable taking apart your M3 and opening up the harness to solder a wire or two in, I say go for it! Preparation is key...make sure you have all the parts before you open it up.

okay, I manged to retrofit my vehicel with the new CIC.

Everyone buying the Bimmer Retrfit plug and play device should also remove the plastic cover that holds the navigation. You will need to put the big cable adatper on the left so that there is enough room for the navi unit to be place into the hole. If you don't do so it won't fit.

I have a question regarding the plug and play device. the navigation and everything else seem to be working. However I get following errors
- no sound
- dashboard says no SOS calls
- Navigation is activated but no GPS signal. map is locates somewhere in Poland. (that is where I got the navi from)

I also noticed that the language only shows UK English, French, Spanish,
Unluckily no German.

Futher I noticed that the CIC has no port for a black connector that was used on the CCC. Anybody got an idea what this is used for?

Also the Navigation has a sticker on top with HD Sirrius Radio. Not sure what this is. I hope its not an U.S Version.

Thanks for your kind help

successful bimmerretrofit CIC

Thanks BimmerRetrofit for perfect solution.
retrofitting CIC in my 3 series 07.2008 was really plug&play and result is perfect. Plug and play since only necessary to unmount old system and mount new one instead as described in the guide.
Two things to know anyway:
- the car system needs to have latest software update, without this update I could not have any sound, and no dvd working.
- and the colors of the wires to the new connector for the screen are not the same as in the guide but following the guide make the connection successful.
Did not change the controller to the new one and dont think I will replace it.
BimmerRetrofit did excellent work, all options / wheel commands are working perfectly after retrofit, no remote coding necessary.
Now ready to retrofit combox2 and 6NR.
Congrats.

Hello all here,
I need some help. Becasue there is no specific part number for both CID connector and I-drive controller connector, I have been having hard time finding out both CID connector and I-Drive controller connector that are not found on RealOEM.com and BMW part shop. There are no specific part numbers for CID and I-drive controller for factory navigation. Please let me know what connector parts do I have to buy. In my opinion, Only thing I can guess about those connectors is that CID connector uses 12 pin connector, I-drive controller connector uses 4 pin connectors. Is it no problem to use any 12 pin connector and 4 pin connector on the condition that I purchase OEM connectors. Please help and give me part number for both connectors shown on RealOEM.

Thanks in advance!
