That is a huge statement for the build quality of bmw. Obviously some of that was sheer luck, but in my opinion the results might not have been so good if it was another brand.

I can't believe there aren't any comments on how horrifically terrible his driving was on that road? Crossing over the double yellow? Terrible corner entry and coming around a blind turn at speeds?

Here's the video:

What a moron...and a terrible driver.

There was another video like this a while back where the driver ran his E46 M3 into a pile of rocks and totaled it.

Glad they are ok. But watching the video you definitely knew something bad was gonna happen. I live by US129 The Dragon. if your crossing into the other lane your an asshat. Not only putting yourself in danger but also to any on coming traffic. Your not Mario Andretti. What's sad is if he kept it in his lane and drove at a spirited pace he wouldn't have wrecked. But apparently the trend in the desert and with E46 M3s is to lane cross which is sad. Maybe you guys should take a trip to Willow Springs and learn some driving .

I'm glad no one was hurt but just amazes me the stupidity.

Am I the only one disappointed that this idiot didn't kill himself? Just happy he didn't kill anyone else. AZ law enforcement is aware of the video, sounds like someone is going to get a visit.

not a very smart idea to post this video on the internet. Especially if seeking some kind of insurance compensation.

Or if you already got some kind of insurance compensation but forgot to share the video with your insurance company! Pretty sure that's a no no!

I replied to everyone in a respectable manner, positive or negative. I am not defending his actions whatsoever in this case.. I even found your gif funny..

But there is a fine line between stating your opinions like you did in my other thread, which is completely fine, and wishing death upon my friend (or anyone else for that matter).

What a shame, you're an idiot yourself for that kind of comment.

The only one who should feel shame is your idiot friend. This isn't a "we all make mistakes" move, it's downright retarded. The dude had a death wish driving like that on a public road, he doesn't know how to control his car in the slightest.

Him making this video public proves and adding idiotic comments like "my old M3 that died doing what it was engineered and built to do" to YouTube makes me believe that he hasn't learned anything form this near death experience. No, it wasn't engineered and built to fly off a god damn cliff and drive irresponsibly on public roads.

This is a stain on the BMW community and paints us all in a bad light. Looking at other videos from your local club, this isn't the first time driving like this. If I went to a canyon cruise and saw people driving like that, I'd call the police.

So yes, if this guy died, I could care less.

Examples of lane challenged drivers and the dangers.

Wishing death on someone isn't the right way to approach this but it's a visceral response to watching a complete amateur, totally out of control, putting himself and others in danger. Anyone who has done enough canyon driving has already seen too much of this depraved and idiotic driving.

And your friend's attitude makes it 1,000 times worse. WTF is he thinking posting glorified memorials to his wrecked car?!? He is the overnight laughing stock of the driving community! He is the poster child for driving stupidity!

Do you know if he shared his footage with his insurance company? Or did he share it with the police? A lot of people including myself don't like the idea of this kid just walking away unpunished. He clearly hasn't learned his lesson. He should lose his license and his insurance company should drop him like a bad habit.

Is he on the forums? I haven't seen him own up anywhere.

Glad he's okay, but that's some godawful driving, and the wrong venue for it.

As an instructor, I implore anybody in a "crew" to burn up some rubber at an autocross and/or car control clinic/track event/etc. You'll have a ton of fun, learn a lot, and be a better driver for it.

We all like to have our fun on the street, but if you don't have the faintest clue what to do when you lose grip, you shouldn't even come close to it.

When I watched the video last, he had 266k views in less than 1 day. The view counters are delayed and I wouldnt be surprised if he had twice that many views. He probably will break 1 million.

This kid is getting torn apart on Facebook, youtube, and a bunch of car forums. He has become the poster child for driving stupidity.

His youtube caption for his tribute video, which ends in his car flying off a cliff "Tribute video of my old M3 that died doing what it was engineered and built to do."

I dont wish anyone death and am glad he is ok but posting these videos online is just asking for repercussion from the car community, insurance and law enforcement.

This is a post I respect.. Thank you for going about it in a respectful manner, while expressing your honest opinions unlike many here. I agree with the things you said.

Yeah this is pretty much the definition of felony speeding. Guy deserves a few years in prison minimum, and $20k/year insurance premiums from here on out.
