E91 + Tesco Momentum = Engine light?
Had my 2008 318i ED E91 for few months now. I had been putting either Total or Shell v-power in it. Recently stuck a tank of tesco momentum in it. 30 miles later I have a yellow engine light indicator on the dash. This is the first time I've put Tesco's petrol in it. Coincidence? Anyone else fill up with this stuff? I am planning on burning through the rest and topping up with v power. If I still get the light then it is off to my local independant...

My reason for thking it isn't, is that the filler cover states 95-98 RON, and that this light can come on due to knock etc. If I fill up with the good stuff and the light clears I guess it isn't a coincidence. If not I'm thinking this could get expensive. Should have stuck with Honda's...

A big love-in for Tesco petrol eh? Who would have thought it? I hope that if there is a real problem it is just a sensor or something. The thing is, it runs fine, I've just got 47mpg out of it over 2, 37 mile runs - not bad for a 2l petrol. It is a little unrefined on start up. but it has always been like that.

Yep thats the stuff I put in. Thing is, filler cap on mine states 95-98 RON, whereas Momentum is 99 - which is why I suspect it. Apparently it achieves this high octane level with a generous amount of bio ethanol - which some engines don't run well with.
