I bought a set of kidney grills and I think there will be an adhesion problem with paint so I am considering powdercoating it.

Anyone know if the kidney grills will survive the 350 degree / 400 degree curing process?

That temp. seems too high for the composite of the grills, but I don't know...

Were your grills professionally done and this problem occurred? Or if you did them yourself, did you use primer first?

Edit: Read your post wrong...Thought you already painted them and had a problem with the adhesion...

I've helped paint a few kidney grills for some friends E36's and have used Dupli-Color paint for all of them...

Thanks, they are just sanded, not yet painted. I am worried about paint chipping on the chromed bits.

you cant powdercoat them, all you can really do is put on as many layers of clear as possible

i painted mine, and they are completely chipped... looks like garbage....

gonna get them re-painted
