Thoughts on whether this can be updated by USB?

My friend has what must be one of the first 335d LCI's in the UK with a registration date of 09/2008.

The age would suggest that the maps cannot be updated via USB however the "tick" is present in the bottom left of the map screen which suggests it can.

The car is currently running a 2009 map so an update will make a massive difference.

What are your thoughts on whether this will be update able by USB?

From what I've read; we could still have issues updating via DVD plus the files I have are larger than a DVD so not sure how I'd go about using DVD's.

Car could be from 2008 but it's updated to 2010 or 2015. If tick is present it should be able to update by USB.
