I'd love to do a trip to the 'ring but I think i prefer the idea of a proper track day event instead of a public access day.

Hi mate,

Does that include any of the other costs commonly associated with this kind of trip? Insurance, hotels, crossing etc? If not, do you offer any other benefits like access to cheaper accomodation as a group etc?

I am assuming not, but just trying to see what other benefits there are!

For me, it would probably need to be down at the lower end of the 'group buy' scale (as in more cars needed) but when you work out how many laps you are likely to do (lets say 2-3 per hour which I think is realistic/verging on optimistic for most people - especially considering the need for fuel offsite etc) and add the bonus of the track being exclusive to the 150 cars involved overall - it begins to look attractive.

Regards
Matt

Hi Matt,

No just the trackday included at that price.

I think for simplicity it's probably best that you all arrange your own accommodation and crossings and if you want to come on a trackday I'd be happy to help with that.

Dino - thanks for posting this info - i am definitely going to do a track day at the Ring this year without question and i have been looking into some options through various companies, now that ive bought the R26.R. Ive already booked Bedford for next month and ive also just booked Spa for April 27th with RenaultSport. A Ring track day is next on my shopping list. Will give you a call to discuss. Steve.

Well those of you who have expressed an interest in the trackday on the 18th June would make it on the 15/16th June to the 19th June

The track day in June is no good for me unfortunately as I'll be jumping off the Tyne Bridge for charity on the 16th.

I'm now thinking of doing the public access day early June and then the track day in August.

I have also noted these days in my agenda - even though I would prefer a complete track day (not only until 1 pm) but right now it seems this will not be offered by the 'Ring.

Would be cool if quite a few of you participated, that would be a great group!

It's only 1 hour short of a 'full day' as other days start at 9am for driving and break for lunch then end at 4pm

But yes would be great to see you all out there.

I am definitely going to be doing a dedicated track day at the Ring this year through Dino and the Nurburgring Experience. The more numbers we can get to commit to booking, the better the price will be individually - so lets try and get some interest going. Cars don't have to come from this forum, other forum members are equally welcome.

I've just quoted some guys for a package to include return Eurotunnel, 3 nights b&b twin room in hotel next to the circuit and the trackday itself.

£799 based on the standard trackday price.

Travel out on Saturday morning 16th June, back on Tuesday afternoon 19th June.

£709 for a single room subject to availability or for the same price each you can have two people that are each taking their own cars on track share a room.

I have block booked one hotel in Nurburg and one guesthouse 8km out as well. There is another BMW forum who have also expressed an interest too so hoping us UK BMW drivers can 'represent' on this weekend!

And for the first time in weeks it does not rain! Still a bit damp though.

Had an "oops" moment yesterday when I lost traction while flooring it in 4th (!) gear yesterday...winter tires don't help I assume!

I'd certainly be interested in going along. Also, friends of mine have already declared to be interested as well.

Will it be possible to bring along a coach for this track day? I assume that is no problem, but just wanted to confirm.

Something else: On the 11th of May (Friday) there's a whole day of "Touristenfahrten" where the 'Ring is - exceptionally during the week - open for the public. Might be a good opportunity to organise a 'Ring trip as well, as during the week there's always far, far less traffic than on any week-end. Maybe some people also prefer to do a first experience on the 'Ring with some laps during Touristenfahrten as opposed to a full track day with many fast cars on the track. It is very likely that I'll be there the whole day. Another car forum in Germany has already organised a 1M meeting that day, so there'll be loads of BMW enthusiast out there. Should be fun!
